I saw a Volvo advertised online by SF Toyota. I called I saw a Volvo advertised online by SF Toyota. I called and asked if I could take it to my mechanic, about 40 miles away. I took time off work and called again to be sure. "You can't take the car that far." "Why not?" "It's against our policy." When I started to cancel, they changed the tune. "You can take it, but you have to sign an agreement saying you're responsible for it." I showed up and it was a different story. They handed me a purchase agreement. I said I wasn't buying it, I wanted to have my mechanic look at it. They said I could tear up the agreement if the mechanic didn't approve the car. Wait. "That means I'm BUYING the car unless the mechanic doesn't like it?" "Sure. You want the car, don't you?" "I don't know. What about the price negotiations." "You already agreed to the price." "What price?" "The price you saw online." "Oh. So you want me to sign a purchase agreement for the full asking price when my mechanic hasn't even looked at the car?" "Yes." "You're nuts. I either spent many hours there or the salesman was just trying to take every single penny from my bank account....purchasing a car from Philip has been the best experience so far. We communicated through email at 10am, I received a quote from Philip and it was exactly the price I already had in mind, so it was a done deal. I met him later that afternoon and already had a great vibe about this guy. He knew I was here for that exact car, no hassle or trying to upsell me. When we were going through the functions of the car, he knew everything about it. I will definitely be a return customer. He went out of his way to accommodate me, like picking me up from work to take me on a test drive, and coming in to SF Toyota on Christmas eve. He was very knowledgeable and patient. He answered all my questions, and let me test drive everywhere I wanted for as long as I wanted. It seemed like his priority was making sure I was completely happy and certain that I had just the right car. It was like having a friend help me buy a car. He made it easy and fun. More
