Gene, I bought the 2005 Cadillac Escalade from Sands Ford in early September and the Sales Person was Ken Koscil. There were issues with the vehicle that I thought should be taken care of and there were other things that I said to myself "it is a used car....not a big deal". Sands Ford fixed the issues with the vehicle except for one annoying thing. There was a steering shaft that was changed due to whining and binding of the steering wheel only to the left. I was informed prior to buying this vehicle "Don't worry Sir, we will take care of the issue", so I bought the vehicle. The service dept. changed the shaft and it still has the same problem. So, I was told by the service advisor, Cheryl Morgan, "We are not fixing that issue because it doesn't fault the steering and it is not a safety issue". What I would like to know Gene is why I was told that it would be taken care of prior to purchase and now I am told (more or less) fix it yourself....it is your problem now after I bought it. If I would have known this I would have left with my Volvo that I traded in. Also, I have a few calls to Cheryl with no resolution and a few calls to Ken with no resolution. When I talked to Ken he told me that Vince ?????? was going to call me and that never happened. I also emailed Ken about a month ago with no response. If Sands Ford wasn't going to fix the steering why wasn't I informed from the get go, so that if I bought it I can just fix it myself. Don't tell me you are going to fix it and then smash the picture that you just painted for me over my head. I could have respected someone telling me that I would have to take care of that issue myself. I would also expect that from a private owner and not a dealship that has been in business for years. That is a terrible way to conduct business.

Thank you very much for the additional info. Your info has been forwarded to the Sales Manager (Rich Tarapchak), the Service Manager (Vince Bobbin), and our General Manager (Jarod Sands). They will discuss possible resolutions to your steering issue and one of us will be back in touch. Just so you're aware, Ken Koscil just returned today from vacation. He has been off since October 20th. Ken also does not check his email very often. Once he gets settled in I will make him aware of your complaint too. My role in this is that I'm the Marketing Director for the group, so I try to manage our dealership's online reputation. I am powerless to make any decisions for the dealership on situations like these, but I always make certain that the customer's concerns are heard by the proper people. On that you have my word. Mr. Banta: The managers held a meeting to discuss your steering concern regarding your Escalade. While they can understand your desire to have the sound/noise diagnosed and eliminated, they feel that it falls outside of the vehicle warranty and the expectations for a pre-owned purchase of this age and mileage. They feel your request to have a steering problem fixed as a condition of sale has already been granted and completed as the vehicle is safe to drive and there is no steering performance problem. Their goal was to repair the steering for performance and safety, not remove noises that can easily be attributed to a vehicle of that age & mileage. Even without liability and as a matter of good will, our General Manager Jarod Sands has offered a 25% discount if you still wish replace parts you feel may attribute to the noise. Feel free to contact our service department if you’d like to proceed with this generous offer, and we’d be happy to arrange for a loaner vehicle for you again if you need one while your Escalade is having the noise removed. Gene, First off.....thanks for getting back to me. I know that the steering isn't a big issue, but when I was told that the NOISE will be taken care of, I kind of thought that would happen. I guess that I was lied to. As far as the 25% discount....why do you think that I would bring the vehicle back to a dealership that first, lied to me and second, couldn't fix the problem in the first place. I am greatful to you for giving me FINALLY a straight answer, instead of handing me a line of bull shit like I have been getting. So, thank you Gene for finally concluding this issue and to Sands Auto Group......THANKS FOR NOTHING. Also, please be sure that my email address is removed from your distribution list. After this repair was made the vehicle is now safe to drive and would pass a state inspection. We acknowledge that the repair we made did not address the noise you speak of, but we also feel that the noise is to be expected for a vehicle of the age and mileage (86,000+ miles) you purchased.
