I purchased a used Dodge Durango from Serpentini Chevrolet on July 18. Just one month later, on August 18, and after only 500 miles of driving, the Hemi engine suffered a catastrophic failure. The v Chevrolet on July 18. Just one month later, on August 18, and after only 500 miles of driving, the Hemi engine suffered a catastrophic failure. The vehicle still had the Serpentini license plate frame and temporary tag on it, and I had not even made my first payment yet. I understand the risks associated with buying a used vehicle, especially without an extended warranty. Normal wear items such as an A/C repair, water pump, or wheel bearing can happen at any time which would be plausible. What I did not expect was a complete engine failure after only 500 miles. A Hemi engine should not fail that quickly under normal circumstances. I was told the vehicle had been tested on the dealership's six mile test drive route after this situation. While that may satisfy a basic inspection process, it clearly was not enough to identify a major engine issue. Given how quickly the engine failed, it is difficult not to question whether this vehicle was truly evaluated before being sold. My experience with management was equally disappointing. On August 21, I visited the dealership to speak with Carla, the sales manager, regarding possible solutions. She knew I was there and had been informed of my arrival almost immediately. Despite this, I sat in the showroom for approximately 90 minutes while she interacted with other customers and never acknowledged me. When she finally approached, she responded to being asked if she remembered me by saying, “I guess we sold him a car or something. My name is Carla, nice to meet you.” During that conversation, I was told the dealership needed additional information and that I would receive an update by the end of the following day. That call never came. After several days without communication, I contacted the dealership myself and was asked to return on August 27 to discuss options. During that visit, I was informed through a salesperson, not Carla, that I would need to pay approximately $15,000 for a used engine or $19,000 for a new one. I had just financed the vehicle for roughly $20,000. When I wanted to discuss those options directly with Carla, I was told she had already left. This was the second time I visited seeking assistance and was unable to have a meaningful conversation with the person responsible for addressing the situation. On August 29, I met with General Manager Mo Zeda. The options presented were: • Finance a new Silverado priced around $59,000. • Attempt to finance another vehicle separately. • Pay approximately $14,000-$15,000 to replace the engine. • Receive a one-time refund of my $1,500 down payment. None of these options addressed the reality that I had purchased a vehicle that experienced catastrophic engine failure after only 500 miles of ownership. Being encouraged to consider a truck costing nearly three times as much as the vehicle I purchased was not a realistic solution. Referring to the return of my own down payment as a "goodwill" gesture was insulting. This situation has created a significant financial burden and has left me feeling completely unsupported as a customer. There are definitely other options available where everyone could be happy as well which is the most frustrating part of the ordeal. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Serpentini Chevrolet. If you purchase a used vehicle here and cannot afford their warranty propositions, be aware that you will be left to deal with the consequences alone, even when a major failure occurs almost immediately after purchase. Repossession appears to be the option at this point. Thank you Serpentini! The vehicle failed after 500 miles. The customer service that followed was nonexistent. More
Do NOT buy from here! ! I purchased a used car from Serpentini of Willoughby Hills. I had it for only two weeks and had a major repair issue happen with it. I took it to ! I purchased a used car from Serpentini of Willoughby Hills. I had it for only two weeks and had a major repair issue happen with it. I took it to a car repair place to fix the issue because my salesman and Serpentini of Willoughby Hills would not return my calls or texts. Since I only had this car for two weeks, the car repair company that I took it to also called Serpentini of Willoughby Hills every day for the week they had my car, and they also received no return call. This repair cost me $2,026.46 for a car I only had for two weeks. I'm very, very disappointed and dissatisfied with Serpentini of Willoughby Hills, and I will continue to spread the word as much as I possibly can of how badly ripped off I feel from them. They sold me a used car with a major issue, and then completely ignored all of our calls and texts. They didn't even try to do good business and didn't even acknowledge us or the issue. We were completely ignored. More
On Mon Apr 27, 2026, I drove an hour with my daughter to look at and hopefully purchase a 2016 Chevy Express Van advertised on their website along with Cars.com. We arrived a little before they opened at 9a look at and hopefully purchase a 2016 Chevy Express Van advertised on their website along with Cars.com. We arrived a little before they opened at 9am so we looked thru the lot to find the van. Unable to locate the van we went inside and were greeted by XXXXXX. I informed her that we wanted to see/drive the van, but I didn't see it on the lot. She went in the office to check and said that it was available, but it was in service on the rack. I walked with her back into service, and it was up on the rack getting new tires and an air conditioning belt. They said it would take an hour or two to complete the work. We had already driven an hour to get there so we decided to wait. My daughter gave K her number and we went to get something to eat. After almost two hours we hadn't heard anything to we called and were told it's still in service and now they are changing a steering sensor and then they will test drive the van. After two more hours (it's now 1pm) we stopped back in the dealer and K saw us coming. She went to check on the van. She said it's done and sitting outside. She asked who was going to drive it and I replied both, so she took both of our driver's license to copy. She came back out of the office and informed us that the van SOLD 10 minutes ago!!!!! IMPOSSIBLE. I believe that van was sold the moment we got there and they just delayed us trying to find an alternative. Or they are just completely incompetent not knowing what is available or sold. Either way they just wasted 6 hours of our time. More
