The vehicle we purchased was fairly priced according to Kelly Blue Book and Car Gurus, but both of those assumed the vehicle was in good condition (you can read the descriptions of what good means on both of these websites). We took the vehicle into our mechanic before purchasing and learned that we were going to need a couple major repairs right away totaling $1,600. Given these needed repairs, the vehicle would classify as fair, which meant the market value should have been $500-$1,000 less than the posted price. We brought this up with the dealer (especially because one of these major repairs the dealer did not show any records of knowing the problem - though our sales person did warn us that it may be an issue) and requested to have $500 reduced from the price. They came back and said they coukdnt reduce the price. Given that we have limited time and didn’t have enough free time to search for multiple weeks for the right vehicle, we ended up purchasing the vehicle at the listed price. We felt like we were kind of taken advantage of though and feel like we overpaid a bit for the vehicle. Other than their unwillingness to renegotiate the price given the lower condition of the vehicle, our experience was good. More
