This is an excerpt from a recent e-mail sent to Toyota corporate: “ I have owned my 2005 Toyota Highlander since 2010. It was imported directly from Japan and leased in Florida before I bought the vehi corporate: “ I have owned my 2005 Toyota Highlander since 2010. It was imported directly from Japan and leased in Florida before I bought the vehicle in Bay City, Michigan in 2010. It has served me very well for many years and continues to feel safe and comfortable and roadworthy thanks to the excellent care it has received from Serra Saginaw Automative Toyota dealer personnel in Saginaw, Michigan. My vehicle is now 21 years old and as we know most vehicles do not last forever. I have been looking at your offerings and feel dismayed that what I value about my current Highlander cannot be duplicated on current offerings. I am VERY concerned about the technical complexity of current vehicles and the risks associated with reliance on touchscreen technology. I do not even like to be a passenger in a vehicle with a touchscreen because the drivers are so often inadvertently distracted and must take their eyes off the road to look at the screen for basic needs which my vehicle already meets with just a few knobs. When considering a new vehicle to purchase I look for analog features and simpler easy to access interfaces. I am concerned about safety, usability and driving enjoyment; I love my built in CD player and also my cassette tape player both of which I still use regularly!!! And I continue to feel safe with the V-6 Engine which provides sufficient power to move the vehicle quickly if needed.” The recent work on the AC system was completed as well as could possibly be since there seems to be a slow Freon leak which must be watched and serviced as needed. I want to try to keep this vehicle on the road as long as possible because it meets my needs without the inherent dangers of a digital touchscreen. Toyota service has done a heroic job of keeping my old 2005 vehicle functioning. More
