BEWARE OF THIS DEALERSHIP I went in a month ago to purchase a car with their salesperson Caulin (who is apparently no longer there) and his sales manager Gordon. I let them kno I went in a month ago to purchase a car with their salesperson Caulin (who is apparently no longer there) and his sales manager Gordon. I let them know the price I was willing to pay, and they came back to me with an “out the door” price of $19689 and this included Apple Car Play and changing out the rims just to another stocked color. I’m not in car sales but “out the door” so to me meant tax and fees were included. They did not explain that they weren’t. Jeff, the finance guy, put together my paperwork and not only messed it up, but was so rude and impatient. This was my first mistake. Instead of letting Jeff rush me through the paperwork he messed up—probably intentionally in order to cause a distraction—, I should have come back at a time when he wasn’t running to get to his three-day weekend. I was reading one of the pages when he rudely said, “just sign it.” It wasn’t until later that I noticed he hadn’t even added the Apple Car Play or rims. I signed the final papers, thinking my total would be just over $23k after. I added the extra warranty on the car which was $4k, making me think this was the total NOT including my down payment and trade-in which also totaled $4k and would bring my loan back down and even to their “out the door” price. I got my loan in the mail the other day and it was just over $23k which means they lied and not only charged me for the Apple Car Play but they added the taxes on a car that I thought was supposed to be part of the out-the-door negotiated price. I called SBM to speak with Caulin and Gordon about this mistake. I was informed Caulin was no longer there probably because he missed his sales number and that’s why they screwed me in hopes of helping him to increase his sales. I then was transferred to Gordon who was Caulin’s manager and who also helped me, only to have him say that he didn’t remember me because he sells 100s of cars a month. The next day, Melissa called me and said she’d look into things. She called me back and basically said it was a good price for the car either way considering the things the car came with such as navigation, except my car is the bottom of the line Mazda 6 and does not have navigation. This makes me question if she was also blowing me off or if she was looking at an invoice for what my car should have and is missing. Melissa called me today just to tell me that she apparently spoke with Gordon (who--mind you--I called earlier in the week to speak with and he said “he could not remember me off the top of his head he sells 100s of cars a week,”) and he all of a sudden so clearly remembers the pricing for my car. How remarkable that Melissa can jog his memory like that! More
Bait and switch tactic Researched a pre owned cx5 and found one at the South Bay Mazda. Scheduled a visit for next day. One hour later, got a phone call from sales saying Researched a pre owned cx5 and found one at the South Bay Mazda. Scheduled a visit for next day. One hour later, got a phone call from sales saying that the car will not be available for viewing till next week. So waited a few days and they kept postponing. Finally, almost 10 days after our first contact, the sales called me and said that the car us finally in the lot for viewing. Luckly, I had the VIN number written down so I can be sure that they are stil showing the same dar. Drove an hour from my house to South Bay Mazda on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Guess what, the sales person was not there.... So they assigned another one to show me the car. Apparantly, it looks like the same car that I saw in the web site. But upon checking the VIN number it was not the same number. It had a higher milage and less equipped. They pretended to try to find the right car and after talking to the manager, they finally admitted that the car I was intereted was sold. Be careful, these people are deceiving. More

Once the car was ready and I got to pickup I was informed about a tire problem, and I asked them to fix it, that meant another hour wait. If they called me ahead when it was discovered I could have managed my time better. More

Because of that, I made multiple calls to make sure I had an appointment. The appointment was made 2 weeks before. When I arrived at the dealership, the driveway was completely full and I was almost out on Hawthorne Blvd. I went inside to ask what is going on since I saw no service people outside in the bay. When I went inside, there was a line. I was waiting in line and heard the people in front of me mention they were dropping their car off early because they had other things to do even though their appointment was for 11:30am. I spoke up and said I had an appointment at 10am and I wanted to be taken care of first. They asked for my keys to move my car because it was blocking the driveway. I said yes it is because that is where I had to leave my car when I arrived. I told them I would give them my keys when they have finished my paperwork. I wanted to get done with what I needed and then they are free to do what they need. They were going to leave me standing there waiting on them while they serviced a customer and paperwork who had an appointment for 1.5 hours later. I refused to give them my keys and left the dealership. Through the course of owning this Mazda I have had 3 different dealerships service this vehicle and this dealership is the only one I have had a problem with. I live in Torrance and would buy another Mazda bed on the quality of the vehicle, but I will never buy one again while I live here because I will no go back to this dealership. Why make an appointment if the times are going to be completely ignored. More
