Bad Experience with Southeastern Honda Service department My college daughter took her Honda in to fix a lock problem. When she left with the car, she could not get the gear to shift out of park. She informe My college daughter took her Honda in to fix a lock problem. When she left with the car, she could not get the gear to shift out of park. She informed a technician who used a screwdriver to what she thought was some kind of adjustment. Drove home and found out she had no brake lights. At that point, again could not shift the gear from "Park". We called Southeastern about this problem they told us how to insert an object into a keyhole to the right of the gear shift. Honda has a safety feature that prevents the shifter to release from "Park" if the brake lights aren't functioning. Returned the next day, Southeastern replaced a fuse to correct the problem. Left dealership with the car. Later tried to drive the car but had a dead battery and noticed her brake lights were on when the car was not running. Contacted Honda again and they requested we bring the car back. At this point we decided to use another mechanic. The 2nd mechanic had to make a quick adjustment on the brake switch, which took about 2 minutes and we were not even charged for the fix. I am appalled at the incompetence and lack of concern on the part of Southeastern's service department. They allowed my daughter to leave their dealership two separate times with brake lights not operating properly which could have caused an accident. We won't be using them again for our Honda repairs. Very straightforward, plus a great price! This past Saturday, we purchased our second new car in 11 years; both from Southeastern Honda. It is a long drive for us. Both times, I had emailed This past Saturday, we purchased our second new car in 11 years; both from Southeastern Honda. It is a long drive for us. Both times, I had emailed all the Honda dealerships within 100 miles, looking for a particular model with specific features (manual transmission both times). Most dealerships told me to come in and see what they had to offer. Very nice, but didn't answer what I asked. But Southeastern Honda, both times, had given me specific information about the specific model I'd request (this time, a 2015 Honda Fit EX, manual transmission, in white (and with no extra options), and in 2004, a 2004 Honda Civic LX, manual transmission, in any color but black). Southeastern's email included a line-by-line description of each cost and fee. Not only that, but their listed out-the-door price was easily below the other dealers. We didn't need to haggle; the price was good-to-go. In 2004, my wife was skeptical. We hadn't been to Southeastern Honda, and she'd had her fill of duplicitous dealers. On our drive to Southeastern Honda to buy our Civic (sight unseen), she said "If the price is one cent more than they quoted, we're leaving." I assured her that we would. As it turned out, her concern was unfounded. The price we were quoted was exactly what we paid -- not one cent more. We went in, filled out the requisite paperwork, paid for the car, and drove off with our new Civic. This year (2015), we did our "due diligence" by checking out all the Honda dealers in the area. We have many which are closer than Southeastern Honda, and one of them with whom we'd had our Honda's serviced for fifteen years. They had told us that their prices would "destroy the competition." They didn't. One dealership even had the audacity to add the destination fee *twice*! Lots of overly-priced options pre-installed on new Hondas. I visited four dealerships (before Southeastern), and walked out. We finally checked out Southeastern Honda again, and just like 2004, they replied directly and honestly. The price was great, and happily, it really was the price we paid. Maybe it won't take us another eleven years to buy our next new car, but next time we won't waste our time with the other dealers. Southeastern Honda is worth the drive. More
