bought my Kia from them 3 years ago. Southern Kia is on the other side of the tunnel, about 45 minutes away. So, until August 4, 2026 I have been getting my maintenance from Southern Hyu Southern Kia is on the other side of the tunnel, about 45 minutes away. So, until August 4, 2026 I have been getting my maintenance from Southern Hyundai in Newport News which is much closer to my home. Twice in July while sitting at a red light the auto stop cut off my car but when the light turned I was unable to go. The engine did not turn back on. I called to make an appointment let them know I did not feel safe and after some back and forth was offered an appointment of Saturday, August 1. On Friday, July 31 I received a rude message from someone saying they do not do diagnostic work on Saturday call back and reschedule. I called back Monday and was given an appt for August 4 @ 9:30am. Dropped off my car early in the morning so I can be back in time for work. They did not even touch my car until August 5 @7:08 (I received the text and it was the first time my door were unlocked) later that afternoon, I received a call from Rebecca saying they can't duplicate the issue. I explained that I did not feel safe driving and what would she suggest. She just keep saying they can't duplicate the issue. I told her I saw that others have had the issue, is there no internal Kia blogs or anything they can look into. She simply stated they cannot duplicate the issue. My husband was furious and found there is an internal bulletin that shows the issue, he simply wants to ensure they have checked it out, again its a safety issue. We both tried calling back but now they are no longer taking our calls or returning our messages. I call the service manager and leave an email, crickets. My husband finds the district managers phone # explains what is going on. He states he will call them 1st thing the next day this is August 11. Well we receive no calls, we both call service again no response. Wait a day to see if anything happens. Nope nothing at all, my husband has to call the district manager again and he apologizes and said he spoke with them. Now I get a text saying that they are servicing the car. RIDICULIOUS!!!! Still hear nothing, give it a couple of days. Call them again, speak with Rebecca they are trying to duplicate the issue. I ask if they were able to look into the Kia internal bulletin, she states they can't do anything until they duplicate the issue. Finally, we call Kia Consumer affairs, they were very apologetic. They say they will have another dealership give me a second opinion. We call the service department to tell them the car will be towed to the Casey Kia dealership, closer to my house. Again, they don't pick up and we leave a message to have the car ready to go. Tow truck driver gets delayed because of an accident. When he gets to Southern Kia service is closed and they did not leave my key with anyone. The tow truck driver was able to get my car (THANK THE LORD). So here we are today, I go to Casey Kia to give them my extra key. Within 1 hour I receive a call stating my battery is at 30% and that can cause the auto stop to malfunction. I don't know if that will fix anything, I can just hope and pray that it does. But, REALLY you have my car for over 2 weeks and at no point did you check my battery. I couldn't take my car on a Saturday because they don't do diagnostics on Saturday. Well do they do it any other day? Why is the battery not part of diagnostics? I called to have them mail me, my key and discuss but to no surprise they don't answer the call. Had to call the district manager AGAIN, he agreed to mail me my key. I do not know any of these people, so why they found it to hard to look at my car is beyond me. I explained each time, how it is a safety issue, but they simply DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!!!!! More
Worst service I've ever experienced. No communication. Don't buy from this dealership. Be aware No communication. Don't buy from this dealership. Be aware More
I cannot warn you enough about how incredibly crooked and disrespectful this dealership is. And I'm talking about the senior leadership no less - Brett Lloyd, general manager, Wes Williams, fixed operation disrespectful this dealership is. And I'm talking about the senior leadership no less - Brett Lloyd, general manager, Wes Williams, fixed operation manager, and Josh Standard, service manager. There was so much deceit, lying, miscommunication, lack of communication and broken promises. It would take forever to even run through all the things that they did wrong and how they had no regard for me or my time. Ultimately it came down to they did not properly diagnose my car instead they continued to use a error code that I gave them from the scan at the auto part store to tell me that I needed to replace the camshaft ($3399.46) and timing change guide and tensioner ($501.41) or even better replace engine long block for $7695.01. This was recommended on a 2017 Kia with over 100,000 miles that doesn't even make sense. .And there were NO issues with the car in terms of performance or anything - this was just a random check engine light that I wanted to get checked out. I was promised the Master Technician had personally checked my car. In three different conversations I asked them if it could be the solenoid (simple AI search came up with that) and they kept pushing the engine replacement!!!! They had my car for WEEKS as we went back and forth. I would call and no one would ever return my call or answer my questions. I finally picked it up and brought it to a reputable dealer service shop who fixed my car in one day for $500. And no surprise - it was the solenoid. I waited to write this review because I wanted to make sure the check engine light did not come back on. I've been driving it for well over 6 weeks now, not a single problem. Be warned - multiple people tried to sell me on repairs upwards of $7600 dollars and it was a $500 fix. As much as I love my Kia (I have had two) I won’t buy another one because of his dealership. Poor communication specifically service adviser Mariah. She does not reach out to update with vehicle. I had to call to find out that my vehicle was ready for pick up. She does not reach out to update with vehicle. I had to call to find out that my vehicle was ready for pick up. More
I am writing to formally express my frustration with the service I received regarding a replacement key for my Kia Telluride. Last Thursday, I called and spoke with a representative who quoted me $279.99 service I received regarding a replacement key for my Kia Telluride. Last Thursday, I called and spoke with a representative who quoted me $279.99 for a key fob (without the physical key insert). At no point during that conversation was I informed of any additional “maintenance” or service fees. The following day, after my vehicle was dropped off, I received a call from Mariah stating there would be an additional $250 charge described as a maintenance fee. While this significantly increased the total, I accepted it since I needed the key and understood the situation would likely be more expensive than initially quoted. However, when I arrived to pick up my vehicle, I was told my total was $618. This was far beyond what I had been led to expect. When I reviewed the receipt, I noticed questionable charges, including: * $6.99 for “lube, gloves, eye protection” * $89.99 listed simply as “miscellaneous” When I asked staff to explain these charges, no one could provide a clear answer. I then requested to speak with a manager, as the pricing was inconsistent with what I had been told and lacked transparency. The manager approached me in an abrasive manner and asked, “What is it that you want?!” I calmly explained that I expected to pay the price quoted to me or, at minimum, receive a clear explanation of the added charges. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, he instructed the front desk employee to “just give her what she wants.” Ultimately, my total was reduced to $540 after taxes, but the experience was unacceptable. The lack of transparency, unexplained charges, and unprofessional behavior made it feel as though I was being taken advantage of. As a customer—and a military service member—I expect honesty, clear communication, and respect. None of those expectations were met during this interaction. I am requesting: 1. A clear, written breakdown of all charges associated with my service 2. An explanation of the “miscellaneous” fee 3. Assurance that pricing practices will be communicated transparently to future customers I hope this issue will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately so that other customers do not have a similar experience. The mechanic fixed one problem, for which I am grateful, but struggled to diagnose the other problem with the heat... or that is my understanding of it because they had my vehicle for a month with VERY LITTLE communication. Rebecca was as helpful as she could be given she isn't the one fixing the car, but communication across the board is terrible. I have never seen a business run like this! You cannot get a hold of David, the manager of the service department to save your life! Extremely unprofessional!! If you're thinking of getting your Kia serviced here, please reconsider and save yourself some time and sanity! Hey Kia, maybe you should consider getting rid of some of your useless employees and give Rebecca a promotion because at least she answers the phone and tries to help. Oh and surprise, the problem with my heat came back after being fixed 4 days ago. RUN away!!! More
The service department has cost them a customer. Can't answer the phones, don't call when service is delayed. Twice my experience has been that they over book their capacity. Once brought car in Can't answer the phones, don't call when service is delayed. Twice my experience has been that they over book their capacity. Once brought car in for a scheduled oil change, waited 3 hours past my scheduled time and still didn't take my car. Yesterday my wife dropped her car for a recall of which they already delayed on a previous visit. No call, called 5 times no call back to find out today they hadn't even started the car. again tried calling no less than three times this morning and could not get anyone to answer. Done with Southern. More
