Called to ask about a used vehicle within a certain price range. They told me they had PLENTY, including some below that range. I take the drive over only to find NONE exist, and they only have two in stock range. They told me they had PLENTY, including some below that range. I take the drive over only to find NONE exist, and they only have two in stock which are double my stated price range. The woman on the phone, who claimed to be a manager, also claimed this was just a "misunderstanding" and she "didn't know her inventory." It was simply a lie to waste my time and waste my gas on a vehicle that didn't exist. Scammers. A previous poster describes a similar experience a year ago. Sad to see they haven't cleaned it up since then. Probably because others have fallen for these shady tactics. More
This is intended to be a fairly mild rebuke, but I am tired of sales practices which, in my opinion, are abusive and waste the time & money of prospective customers. I briefly contacted Speck via IM (“in tired of sales practices which, in my opinion, are abusive and waste the time & money of prospective customers. I briefly contacted Speck via IM (“internet messaging”) to inquire about an old Geo Metro they had *just listed* online… with neither its miles, an asking price or even an adequate description of the vehicle in their listing. They did have the free IM chat option (a positive) and a regular toll phone number (a useless customer expense) in their listing. They also had the car's VIN posted, so I *could have* wasted money getting a CarFax or other report in advance (which I wasn't stupid enough to do.) Unfortunately, and as usual, as soon as I inquired Speck's rep started to give me the run-around… “The manager said” the car wasn’t available any more, or yet, “but what else might they interest me in”?!! Well, I've really gotten tired of these sales tactics so I just said “thanks but no thanks” and “hung up” the session immediately. It was all very polite but they will get a negative review from me in all the online forums to punish them for wasting my time. IMHO, there is NO excuse for not listing a car's basic info - like the asking price, the mileage and which model it is, exactly - up front in any ad a dealer publishes. More
