Great experience buying a new 2018 Camry LE Hybrid After doing our homework, my wife and I decided to buy a Toyota Camry Hybrid LE. We tried using True Car for the first time. We were given 3 dealers After doing our homework, my wife and I decided to buy a Toyota Camry Hybrid LE. We tried using True Car for the first time. We were given 3 dealerships that would meet the True Car price. Star Toyota of Bayside was the first, and only, dealership we visited. Scott Morang was our salesman. He was very professional and friendly. He did not try to upsell us on any add-ons and was very upfront about vehicle availbility. He not only met, but beat the True Car price by about $300. However, we still wanted to do a test drive of a similar car as my wife is petite and not all cars can be adjusted to suit her. It's a smaller dealership, so there were no Camrys on the lot to test drive at the time we went. So, Scott let my wife drive his personal car, a comparable Camry, to ensure she felt comfortable driving it. We decided that day to purchase the Camry from Star, assuming they could get the model and color we wanted. Over the next 2 weeks, Scott tried to find us a Camry in one of 3 colors that was acceptable to us, but was not successful, so he had to order it. It was due to come in on 15 Septmeber 2018. We received a call nearly a month early that the car was in, and went to the dealership on a Monday evening to pick it up. I have been through stressful closing sesssions where the "closer" pressures you to take pacakges you don't want. I have been also been through closing sessions where additional charges were added (e.g., perparation fees, transport fees, etc.) None of that happened at Star Toyota. Unfortunately, I don't recall the closers name, but he was great. He described and offered us extended warranties for the wheels and tires, and the car as a whole. We turned them down, and that was the end of it -- no high pressure sales tactics to try to get us to change our minds. And the loan rate was excellent; better than the pre-approved loan I got from NEFCU. Danny did a very good job giving my wife a quick walk-through of the car's features, and synched her iPhone to the onboard computer system. I do not like buying cars, but had a very positive experience at Star Toyota of Bayside. More
