Subaru Superstore of Chandler responded

Brian, I read your review, investigated the transaction with my people, and wanted to respond accordingly. First off, I sincerely apologize for Mark not following up and communicating as promised... I can assure you this is not our policy and guarantee this will not happen again. We pride ourselves on great client satisfaction and anything less to me is personally unacceptable. Secondly, regarding the terms of the lease, the advertised Subaru manufacturer program of $299 is for a base WRX with no factory or dealer options plus, does not include sales taxes, title fees, license plates and dealer doc fees. These items alone significatly raise the price of the lease. Considering each state, county and city is different regarding these fees, Subaru (and other manaufacturers) merely advertise a base payment and all other items are extra. Typically, the above stated fees bring the lease upward of $50-$60 per month. Not an excuse, just a clarification. Third, the money factor (lease rate) you were quoted was directly off of the Subaru provided finance matrix at a Tier 3 level. The parameters we provided were appropriate for the terms of your score given the Subaru guidelines. In restrospect, we should have submitted an exception request to Subaru to see if we could better the rate at which you qualified. The rate difference allow accounted for a $20-$30 swing in payment. Lastly, the value of the trade is subjective from dealer to dealer. Each dealer appraises a vehicle based on their market, client demand, and what they believe the value of the car is worth to them at that point in time. I understand there were some issues (e.g., airbag light) on the trade as well. That said, I do believe we were light on the trade appraisal (accounting for the remaining difference in your payment and mileage variance on your lease) and have addressed this with my Sales Managers. Also, Camelback may have given you trade credit for the vehicle which, is against AZ Dept. of Revenue guidelines for a leased vehicle. I don't know if they did so but, this mere fact would provide a significant savings for you albeit, it is against the sales tax code. All in all, the points I rasied above is what made the difference in our payment quote vs. the one you ultimately signed with Camelback. I'm sorry we missed your business... in my opinion, we did not do all we could have to earn your business. Your response will allow us to get better with our processes... I appreciate the honest feedback. Sincerely, Richard Cvijanovich Owner - Subaru Superstore 480-268-2413 (Direct)

Richard, I sincerely appreciate your response. It's not often that an owner of a company will take the time to personally respond to an issue like this and it means a lot to me. Regarding the trade in, it's my understanding that if the lease return is within 90 days, the dealer is within their rights to give fair market value as opposed to a simple lease buyout. This was explained to me by VW Credit and by the local VW dealer, San Tan VW. That said, this alone would only contribute a bit towards the nearly $5000 differential in price. Mark had told me that even with tier one credit, I would only be able to get to $365 on payment with $2,000 down. This was still only at 10,000 miles per year. That's still a $40 per month differential ($1680 over the duration of the lease) plus the mileage differential of .15 per mile for the additional miles would equal another $1000 in differential. I was disappointed to have to travel from Gilbert to PHX to buy the car but I had engaged Mark on several occasions and was always left with the impression that he wasn't interested in selling me a car. However, I will still give you guys a shot for service in hopes that things will be different. Thanks again for your message and your concern! Sincerely, Brian Sherman

Brian, Thanks for the response... I really do care about my clients and how we interact with them. That said, in my opinion, we flat out missed your business by lack of initiative on the part of my employee and not allowing enough for the trade. I sincerely apologize for this situation. Let's chalk this one up to being like a great restuarant but, having a poor experience with the waiter. It doesn't mean the restuarant is bad, just the one experience. Also, if you feel compelled to edit any part of your Dealer Rater review based on my responses, you can do so per their guidelines. We look forward to servicing your vehicle in the future. Should you need anything, please call me at 480-268-2413. Richard Cvijanovich
