About a month later I noticed a large oil leak under my truck while leaving work. Because it was leaking heavily, I immediately took the vehicle to a trusted independent service shop to avoid risking engine damage. The technician there found the oil leaking directly from the oil filter area. The filter itself was damaged and cracked, and the oil appeared extremely dark for something that had supposedly been changed only a month earlier. Because of this, the truck required another oil change and filter replacement immediately just to make it safe to drive. According to the mechanic who inspected it, the oil filter appeared mangled as if significant force had been used on it, and based on the condition of both the filter and the oil, he believed the oil and filter may not have been changed during the original service. His opinion was that the technician may have struggled to remove the filter and left the original one in place, which would explain both the damage and the condition of the oil. I contacted the dealership to try to resolve the situation. They stated they had camera footage proving the oil change and filter replacement were completed. However, they refused to provide a copy of the video. The only thing they were willing to send were low quality screenshots from a distant camera angle, which did not clearly show the oil being drained or the filter being replaced. They insisted I would have to come into the dealership in person if I wanted to see the actual footage. When I spoke with the general manager, the conversation felt very dismissive. He repeatedly said the footage proved everything and that they were confident nothing was done wrong, but still refused to provide the video file unless I came in to watch it there. The only resolution they offered was a free oil change if I brought the truck back, which I declined because after this experience I no longer feel comfortable bringing my vehicle back to their service department. All I asked for was a refund of the original oil service, but that was refused. Between the emergency repair, the time taken out of my work day, and the inconvenience of dealing with this situation, the entire experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I'm writing this review to give potential patrons a heads up regarding the vehicle buying experience. Although I'm rating my review for this dealership as neutral (3 out of 5 stars), I'm still recommending t up regarding the vehicle buying experience. Although I'm rating my review for this dealership as neutral (3 out of 5 stars), I'm still recommending this dealership for anyone looking to buy a vehicle. I'll start with the negatives first, and it's down to the numbers on the sales contract. Please note that I had an exceptional experience with my sales guy (Baldwin), but with his relax and cool demeanor - they still deceptively take advantage of the customer. I'm not complaining because I'm happy with the purchase, but as a patron of this establishment, they are not transparent. One reason is that I'm currently in a Ford lease, and wanted to trade in the vehicle halfway through the agreement (I still had 17 months left). Whether it's to pay the remaining payments, or the dealership buying out my lease from Ford - I am well aware I'm upside down. The problem I have is that the dealership presented 2 different numbers when it came to buying out my vehicle: First number is my buyout price, and second number is higher price (for the dealership to buyout). This is not true. In fact, I caught it in the finance office when signing paperwork, but when speaking to the Finance person, she lied so I didn't even bother calling her out on the lie. There's a piece of paper (keep in mind they are quick to have you sign papers) that I signed that shows what the dealership with payoff my vehicle (and it's to the lower price). The reason they say it's higher for them is because they sucker the customer to adding "TripleCare" (which is a $1400 charge). I did ask her about this, and again her response was vague. She doesn't even explain what it is, or what benefit. The vehicle I purchased was a used Nissan Truck, and TripleCare is warranty coverage provided by Ford (for windshield chips, curb rash, etc.). It's useless, and this is how the dealership tried to discretely slide it in the deal. Besides that, they made me review and sign the Carfax. Although the details are fine, it reflects that the dealership "replaced all 4 tires." Unsure if they replaced with new and/or used tires, but... (1) The rear tires are well used and have maybe less than 40% life left; there are aged cracks on it. (2) The driver front tire is brand new, but they replaced with a different model tire (the rest are Dynapro HT, while this brand new tire is Dynapro HT2). (3) The passenger front tire is semi new, with maybe 70% life left. It's deceptive to say that all 4 tires were replaced, where me as a patron would think that it's 4 brand new MATCHING tires. Now I'm pivoting to the positive (and the reason why I recommend the dealership). My salesperson (Baldwin) provided an excellent car buying experience. It's easy to talk to him, he knows his stuff, but don't fully fall for tactics. It's actually easy to work with him, but please note the dealership still needs to make their profit. Would I purchase from this dealership again? I think I'm done with Fords, but if there's a good deal on a used vehicle, then most likely. They say they don't do addendums or markups (besides specialty vehicles), but that TripleCare warranty was technically an addendum since they discretely factored it in the deal (as a markup applied coming from my trade). Baldwin, Allen and Darren took great care of us late on a Monday night. They graciously let us look over the vehicle for as long as we needed and run multiple test drives. There was no pressure whatsoever to speed things along or to make a swift decision. Our experience at Theodore Robins Ford was by far the best experience we've had at a dealership, and we've had many good experiences at others in our search for a vehicle. We highly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a new or used car. We've had our car for about a week now and couldn't be happier with it. Thanks, guys! More

So hence my review about my car buying experience at Theodore Robins Ford in Costa Mesa California on Oct 14, 2023. After several weeks of looking for that perfect car and going to many dealerships, being disappointed and exposed to the usual sale’s tactics, I went to Theodore Robins Ford and was greeted by the nicest, most helpful and non-pressuring salesman named Raffi. Raffi was not only knowledgeable about the car I was considering but also took the time to understand and respect my requirements. He was patient, accommodating, and never pushed me into a decision or pushed me to other cars that I was not interested. He allowed me the time to meticulously look at the car, test drive it and gave me the history (car fax) of the car without me asking and answered all of my questions. Raffi provided valuable insights about the car and in the end helped me make an informed choice. I could not have been any happier with my choice and purchase. The finance team at Theodore Robins Ford was also very helpful in making this purchase a great experience. They knew I did not want any aftermarket add-ons and so they respected my wishes and did not pressure me into buying any extras which I really appreciated and commend them for that experience. Even after I had bought the car, in the days following, Raffi and the Sales Management team went above and beyond to work with me to provide needed paperwork in order for me to finance with my Credit Union as opposed to their dealer provide financing. Even after I had made the purchase, they did not FORGET about me and continued to take care of me. From start to finish, I couldn't be happier with the exceptional service I received from my salesman Raffi, the finance team and from the sales management. Throughout the entire process, I felt like I was treated with respect, honesty, and fairness. In the future, I would definitely consider Theodore Robins Ford for my next purchase. So, if you are in the market for a new car and are dreading the hassle of the car buying process, give Theodore Robins Ford a chance and ask for Raffi.
