Highly recommended Low price coupled with friendly, knowledgeable, low-pressure salespeople—what’s not to like? My wife and I love our 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limite Low price coupled with friendly, knowledgeable, low-pressure salespeople—what’s not to like? My wife and I love our 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited and consider ourselves fortunate to have purchased it from Doug "The Greek" Daskalos at McLoughlin Hyundai. I’m an old guy who has purchased numerous new cars over the years even though I’ve largely detested the car buying experience. I didn’t want to put up with that again, so I decided to negotiate entirely by e-mail. I e-mailed 16 Hyundai dealerships from Salem to Everett asking them to provide their bottom line, out-the-door price for the exact vehicle we wanted. Doug "The Greek" Daskalos at McLoughlin Hyundai quoted the lowest initial price and when another dealership offered to beat any competitor’s price by $200, McLoughlin matched that. In person Doug is as friendly and straightforward as he was on line. There were none of the annoying games engaged in by other dealerships. The electronics of our Sonata were totally new to us, and Doug patiently explained them all. He and all the McLoughlin staff we dealt with worked hard to provide a positive experience for their customers. If you’re interested in a Hyundai, check in with Doug at McLoughlin Hyundai. I bought a car and they wouldn't let me leave with it! I really had one of the most unbelievable and sickening experiences of my adult life here. I saw an ad for a 2014 Honda Cr-V yesterday afternoon for I really had one of the most unbelievable and sickening experiences of my adult life here. I saw an ad for a 2014 Honda Cr-V yesterday afternoon for a decent price. I went to test drive it and decided I wanted to buy. I was a little impatient and went for one of the oldest tricks in the book. The finance guy told me my credit was not as good as I had thought and that I wouldn't qualify for many loans. I told him I wanted to check with On Point Credit Union and he said I wouldn't qualify. After a lot of back and forth, he came back and told me they would be able to basically buy me an interest rate if I agreed to buy an extended warranty and that they would bring down the price to $19500. I should have known better, but I said yes. I went through the paperwork, signed a contract, gave my down payment and got the keys. Only thing was, I drove myself there and decided to leave my new car parked there to pick it up the next day. Over night I thought about it and decided to check my credit score and try to apply for that On Point loan the next day. They had lied to me. My credit was much higher and I qualified for a better loan, no problem. I called the dealership and told them I felt cheated and like they had been dishonest to try and get me to buy a warranty, and that I wanted to cancel the warranty. Eventually Jeff, the finance guy, called me back and told me my loan had gone through and that they would let me cancel the warranty, even though I had gotten the car at the price I wanted and not their asking price. I told him I would sign when I picked up the car and he said okay. When I got there, I got pushed into a customer service manager desk, where I was told they would cancel the warranty if I agreed to buy the car for the purchase price, $19,977. I told them that this was opposite of what Jeff, the finance guy said on the phone, that he told me that the loan had gone through and the vehicle was in my name. At this point they refused to give me my car. They told me that since I hadn't driven it off the lot it wasn't mine, even though I had the paper work and keys. They wouldn't tell me where it was and said that they didn't have to. I was reasonably angry and told them they had told me to meet with them under false pretenses, however, I said premises because I was flustered and angry. Both customer service managers said that I was stupid for using the wrong word and laughed at me. They told me to leave their dealership. I told them I didn't want to leave without my car. They refused. When I went out to meet my boyfriend, who came back to pick me up, they turned off the lights and locked the doors. The next door Fiat dealership manager, employees, and a customer watched the whole thing in disbelief. I ended up calling my bank to cancel my check and driving away without my car. Reading another review this is not the first time this has happened here. This was really the last thing I was expecting to happen when I purchased a car. These people are extremely dishonest and unscrupulous. I realized later that there is writing in their contract that says that after 24 hours, if you do not pick up your car, the contract is null and void. I am pretty sure they were trying to hold out with these tactics till this period was up tonight, so that they could resale the car for more money. I have never purchased a car before and then been told I couldn't take said car home with me. Unreal! Whatever you do, do not buy a car here!!! More
