In the middle of the conversation the dealer asked for a credit card to prove that I am serious I gave it to him (me a dope!!) he took it and then went into hard sell mode. When I wanted to leave his manager had the credit card and was holding it until we can come up with a deal. I demanded the card and after some prodding they returned it!! More

Having had a good experience with the parts guys I returned last weekend to buy a used car. IT WAS NOTHING BUT AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE. The same crap that had me turn my car around and leave the parking lot without even having a chance to get out of my car at Trophy Nissan. (Sales guys attacked after I rolled down my window.) Here's the run down at TOD: 1. Salesman made us wait and talk tons of #'s before even showing us the 2 cars I wanted to see. 45 mins wasted! The only number I cared about was the sales price, and I laid that out pretty firmly. Also he pushed and pushed to know what I was currently driving. I said it didn't matter I wasn't trading in; he took offence and still pushed for my current car information. After leaving the table 3 different times and asking me about my "parameters" several times he said he was having trouble finding the keys and had us wait for ages. At every opportunity he wanted us to SIT instead of stand and kept pushing us to SIT DOWN. We made it clear by standing near the exit that these shenanigans had proven unsatisfactory only to realize we couldn't leave see point #2. 2. The salesman took my DL and didn't return it! When I asked for it very directly he walked away and headed towards the sales lot. Standard sleezy control tractics to make you follow them! I stopped in my tracks and made him walk back to me; I demanded my license this time and he pulled it from his inside coat pocket and said "this license?" Holding it between his fingers and keeping it protected with his palm, He reluctantly gave it back. 3. They didn't even have the 2 cars I had seen on their website that morning, said the sold them. Can you say bait and switch? All this run around and they didn't have the cars they advertised! I can't say I didn't see it coming. 4. He insisted we drive another car he had on the lot after we said we had driven several of that model already. At this point we said thanks but no thanks and left. Within hours we bought a Jetta TDi from Boardwalk VW and it was a terrific experience. For all the training our sales person clearly received and adhered to for being a hard sell sales person he made a couple of mistakes. A. He didn't give us his card/information/etc. B. He didn't read me very well and adjust his tactics. C. He didn't even get close to getting us into the cars we said we wanted to see. D. so far he hasn't followed up. Epic fail for Toyota of Dallas! Especially considering I'm loyal to the Toyota brand this could have gone much differently. I don't blame the sales guy either. He seemed like he could be an alright guy. Just a little green when it comes to his place of employment. It was clear his actions were what was dictated by the managers (pit bosses) running the show from their office. This is clearly the way they want their sales people to sell cars and maybe they get sales that way, just not from me. I'm surprised that when it was all falling apart he didn't get help from one of the more experienced guys to keep us from leaving, another common practice for one of these kinds of places. More

After having email contacted 16 of the Toyota Dealerships in the DFW area and getting initial quotes from them for the specific vehicle I was looking to purchase, I decided I wanted to begin meeting some of in the DFW area and getting initial quotes from them for the specific vehicle I was looking to purchase, I decided I wanted to begin meeting some of the salesmen from the dealerships that I was considering purchasing from, as well as to go test drive the vehicle I was going to purchase. I was already set that I would not purchase my new vehicle until the last day of the month, but I knew I needed to begin the process a few days prior in order to make sure I picked the exact vehicle with the exact options I wanted, as well as from the dealership that I wanted to establish a long lasting business relationship with. I had entered this dealership (Toyota of Dallas) for the first time about 3 hours before they closed on a Saturday night (5 days before the end of the month). I wasn't sure that this was going to be the dealership I purchased from, but they were the closest dealership to my house that had the vehicle the closest to the specific vehicle I was looking to in their inventory for me to test drive. When I called ahead and spoke with Larry, he stated he would have the vehicle pulled up and ready for me to test drive once I arrived. He did just that and we took it out for a spin. I had test drove a few other vehicles recently from other dealers in town, and on none of those test drives did I get as good of detailed specifics on the vehicle as I got from Larry. Larry also showed me all the other similar vehicles that their dealership had in inventory while we were on our test drive (as we drove to their extra lot, as well as around their main lot). This was nice because we did it from the comforts of the vehicle that I was planning to purchase, rather than walking around to look at the other cars. I ended up meeting that night with Larry (the sales consultant) and the sales manager, Joe, that night, as they attempted to work a deal with me on purchasing that night. I assured them that I would not be buying that night, but rather on the following Wednesday (the last day of the month). Joe and Larry kept in touch with me over the next few days, but respected my decision to wait to buy until Wednesday. On Wednesday, I contacted Larry by phone and stated that I would like to come by and see the vehicle in the daytime (as the first time I was there it was night time) and that I would be bringing along my father to see it too. Once again, when I arrived, Larry had the vehicles pulled up front for me to look at them and compare a couple different colors of exterior and interiors. Once again, I informed Larry and Joe that I would be leaving, as I had promised another dealership I would meet with them too that day. Joe and Larry offered me a great offer for the purchase of the car, but I told them I wanted to keep my word to meet the other dealer too, but that I would reach back out to them should they other dealer attempt to make me a better offer. After meeting with the other dealer I called Larry and stated if he could match the offer this other dealer was offering, I would purchase from Toyota of Dallas due to the great efforts he and Joe had been making to earn my business. Larry asked that I give him 3 minutes to call me back and let me know if he could match the offer. Larry called me back immediately and they were able to meet the offer. I returned to Toyota of Dallas and ended up purchasing my first ever new car from Larry and Joe. They kept their promises on the price of the vehicle, the included options that were to be added to my vehicle, as well as the matched offer that the other dealer had offered. I took my new car back to Toyota of Dallas a couple days after purchase to get the additional parts I had requested installed on my vehicle through their service department. That experience with their service department went well too. They even took me on their shuttle back to work while they kept my car to do the install. Overall, I would recommend Toyota of Dallas. this dealership is downright dishonest. It gives meaning to the concept of slimy car sales people. the sales person was ok. Where the whole deal went sideways was in business managers office. we were in that office for more than 4 hours while they were doing god knows what. we told them the only thing we wanted besides the car was gap insurance. We were told that and finally after the guy made mistake after mistake with the forms we signed out of desperation and left. the next day when filing the papers at home I found where we were charged $2,800 for a warranty on the vehicle and tires. What did not make sense was we received 36 months warranty from the manufacturer and this policy was for 39 months. we in effect were slammed for all this money for 3 months. We canceled the policy and all the money was applied to our loan which reduced our balance but kept our monthly payment the same. Our loan was in effect reduced by 7 months but at the back end. Our trade in was not paid off for 6 weeks so we ended up having to beg to get our car paid off and also we had to ask our old lender to not penalize us for not making two payments on that loan. I could go on with other bad things that happened during this sale but it would give away who i am. I am considering legal action. If you must buy a Toyota please go anywhere but this place. I actually like my car. Toyota Motor Corporation should send in shoppers to see how bad this place is and how much they hurt the overall reputation of the company. More

At first sight the dealership seems very professional and the staff is friendly. However, we had to go through the motions of waiting 10 minutes for quotes and worse, not getting straight answers to our que the staff is friendly. After agreeing to purchase it took another 1.5 hours before we saw the final contract. It took that long because the dealer was trying to sell us on all kinds of insurances etc - they even made us repeat the warranty in a closed book format. The deal breaker was dishonesty. The downpayment was a lot higher than agreed and we were told that it was sales tax. However, they refused to itemize it and finally, after hours of discussions, the manager said that the price was higher because we were given a bigger car. That itself would have been fine but the lie about sales tax infuriated us and we left. In the end we purchased from Toyota of Richardson which has a very professional and friendly staff. The Internet Sales director Jeremy is fantastic. He was very transparent about the costs and printed quotes with different payment plans right in front of us. More

I walked in looking to get a Corolla with one of the lease/buy deals they had going on at the end of April. It was the best price going on at the time and quite honestly I expected I would be going bac lease/buy deals they had going on at the end of April. I just wanted to make sure the deal was what I thought it was and there were models in the specs I wanted. The place was very crude looking- not nice at all. There was no display of new cars or information- just a bunch of fold up tables and chairs all over the place. Surprisingly it took a few minutes walking around before anyone acknowledged me. I eventually talked to one of the Sales Managers (Salim or something? it was an arabic name I believe) and I told him what I was looking for. He introduced me to a salesman (dan? dave?) who is also their internet manager. He took me to the corolla lot and showed me around. He was very nice and helpful. I didn't want any of the extra 'junk' packages on the car and he helped me find a couple models that were exactly what I was looking for. After this we went back and he said he would work up a quote for me so I would know exactly what the price was. Turns out it was just as advertised on tv, the internet, and everywhere else. I was basically ready to get the car at that point but I wanted to just go home and make sure the specs were what I wanted. Also I wanted to maybe check a honda or mazda out just to be 100% sure I wanted the Corolla. Dan/Dave had no problem with this and said before I went his manager wanted to talk to me. Salim (or whatever his name was) came back to talk to me. Let's just say in the next 30 minutes I went from being 95% sure I would come back in 2 days to buy a car to not wanting to buy a toyota under any condition. This guy gave me the hard sell which in itself is fine (thats how this kind of thing works anyway) but the problem was that he paid absolutely no attention to anything I said. I told him if he wanted me to get the car that day and not even bother checking out the other dealers he would have to give me a lower price. He then started talking about down payment and monthly cost for a lease. I explained to him this didn't matter to me- all I cared about was the bottom line price I would pay when everything was said and done. He was too stupid to understand this. He would say things like 'oh you want less out of your pocket each month?' and then raise the down payment but lower the monthly. When I explained that was no cheaper he would say something like 'oh you want less down today?' When I tried to explain in simple english what I meant he would start acting like I was trying to fleece him. He also refused to ever actually give me a better price. While I realize this is a sales tactic I did not need to buy a car that day and I made it clear to him I wasn't looking for a given number and that if he gave me one then I could give him an answer. Dan/Dave played the 'good cop' this time to Salim's 'bad cop' but again the problem was that he did not listen to me at all. At the end of the day I liked the car and the price was pretty dam good. I was all but sure I was going to come back in a day or two and get the car. So frustrated was I dealing with this guy however I left vowing not to come back. I didn't. I bought a car elsewhere. It has now been a week since my purchase and we have received five phone calls and emails, asking if we have any question or problem. My wife and I also attended a dinner, hosted by David Kelley, Gen. Mgr., where we met all of the department heads. We received a good tradein price and a fair price on our new car. The staff is friendly,and have product knowledge. The service department has always taken care of me in a timely manner. Without question I would rate my overall experience - #5...GREAT!!!!! More
