Had a 22 Tundra 1794 24K miles. The truck had many issues and recalls. The one that did it in was the throttle response issue that was not resolved. The engine was scheduled to be changed 3 times but that did not happen. It had had throttle lag issues and had a flash for that early on in its' life. It reappeared much worse than before. It would without warning upon acceleration from a stop, move a few to 20 feet or so and return to an idle. Had to power off engine and restart to regain throttle response. This mostly happened in tow-haul with my camper behind it. The last time it happened with the camper I was pulling out and it happened. A tractor trailer was coming but had plenty of time to stop. This did not stop him from laying on the horn and becoming furious. We put the truck in the shop and rented a cabin in FL instead of risking pulling the camper. Upon my return 2 weeks later nothing on the truck had been fixed. There were several cosmetic things that were not addressed as well. The truck was under warranty with 24K miles on it. I knew I did not want a new Ram, GM, or Ford. The choice I made was to buy another second generation Tundra. I found a 23K mile 1 owner 1794 edition. I traded the 22 even for it and felt lucky. Imagine I paid $75K tax and all in 22 and traded even to a $46K overpriced 2018 Tundra just to have a reliable truck. I have made 2 trips with no issue in the 2018. Beware of the 3RD generation trucks. The 3rd gens are bleeding value. If you have one dump it before it is worthless. More

45 minute estimate for recall fix turned into 1 1/2 hours. Friendly service reps and clean waiting area. We were surprised that our 3month old Highlander already has a safety recall.
