Toyota of Orange Cost Me $6,600+ for Problems They Never Fixed & Now They Want Me to Trade It In? LOL I normally don’t leave reviews, but after dealing with Toyota of Orange (and previously Tracy Toyota), I feel obligated to warn other Toyota owners, especially those with older hybrids. I’ve spent over $6,600 in the past two years trying to fix ongoing issues with my 2006 Highlander Hybrid Limited, and I’m left with the same original problems, even worse than before. It started with electrical and power issues. My car was randomly failing to start. I took it to Toyota of Orange, and they said it needed over $2,000 in repairs to address the issue. I trusted their diagnosis and paid. The next morning, literally the day after the repairs, my car didn’t start at all as I was leaving for a trip. It had to be towed right back to them. Only then did they say it was actually the battery, even though their initial tests said it was fine. So what exactly did I pay $2,000 for? That entire situation made me question whether they were guessing instead of diagnosing. Not long after that, I started noticing a coolant leak. I first took it to Tracy Toyota, who charged $1,800 but didn’t solve anything. Then, hoping for better service, I returned to Toyota of Orange, where they diagnosed it as an inverter pump issue and charged me $2,800 to replace it. They said the issue was “resolved.” It wasn’t. Just two months later, the leak returned. I brought it back and was told it was just “overflow.” Now, 10 months later and just before the warranty expires, the leak is significantly worse . I'm having refill the coolant about every two weeks now. I brought it back again, and instead of taking responsibility, they claimed it was suddenly a transmission leak, and I’d need a $9,000 transmission replacement. Tried telling me that the pinkish/red fluid underneath the car is transmission oil. I know the color difference between transmission oil and coolant... let alone, this is the SAME LEAK i brought this car in for. So its weird how it went from a coolant leak to a now transmission leak.. Even worse, they tried to offer me the trade-in value of my car instead of fixing what THEY supposedly already fixed. So I pay thousands for repairs, only to be told to just ditch the car? I’ve since had two independent mechanics look at it, and both confirmed what I already knew: the leak is still coming from the inverter system, not the transmission. The leak is not transmission oil and its definitely coolant. It feels like they’re making up a new diagnosis just to avoid covering the repair under warranty. Between misdiagnoses, failed repairs, wasted money, and a blatant lack of accountability, my trust in Toyota, especially Toyota of Orange is gone. I came for help and solutions. I got runaround, excuses, and now an unusable car with thousands in sunk costs. Toyota needs to take responsibility and make this right. More
