This review is regarding the sales team. I give one star despite most of the process going pretty well because the salesperson brazenly lied to us in order to squeeze more money out of us. He did not exaggerate or promote; he outright lied to our faces. My husband was purchasing a vehicle. We were prepared for the typical attempts to upsell, but my husband wanted a base model with just the basics. Our sales agent was Mike F. As we sat at the desk reviewing the details, Mike asked if we wanted the optional ceramic coating plus its warranty. Because we have no garage, my husband wanted the protective coating but asked if we could get it without the warranty. That's when Mike lied to us. He said the protective coating was not available without the warranty. So my husband decided to get the coating for an additional $750. Later, when my husband called the service department to schedule the coating application, the service person told him they don't do that work because all their cars automatically come with that coating. What???? My husband called the sales manager Benito M. and complained that we were deceived by Mike. Benito acknowledged the deception and told my husband Toyota of SB would refund that $750. Toyota of SB has not refunded the money despite our follow up calls over the weeks. Rather than honor his word, Benito M. just ghosted us. So I guess you could say he lied to us too. That car purchase was our second from Toyota of Santa Barbara, but it will definitely be our last.We will never go to them for anything again, and we cannot recommend them. Was stealing $750 from us really worth it? The sad thing is, my husband and I understand that the car dealership needs to make money too. We just wish they didn't poison the relationship by lying to us. After all, if they will blatantly lie about one thing, can you really trust their word about anything? For example, will they actually do the service you bring your car in for? Or will they mess something else up to get you in for more service? It's truly hard to say. Trust means a lot. They get one star. More
We told them exactly the car we wanted but they still are trying to sell us something else. Harassing constant phone calls. Calling us everyday for a car we don’t want. Worst possible car salesmen. They won't stop contacting me trying to sell me a car even though I already bought one elsewhere. Tried to call and unsubscribe 4 times. It's reached a level of harassment. I have been taking my 2000 Tacoma to this dealership since 2003. I have all work done there. Justin is my service adviser. The customer service was great!!! But the facility/building in itself was subpar. This place is a poor representation of the Toyota brand. The building is old, dirty, and dingy. I was appalled by the service advisors’ working space or lack thereof. The owners need to improve conditions for its employees and take more pride in this building/business.
