A COUPLE OF SIGNIFICANT STEPS SHORT OF GREAT Fundamentally, this and the accompanying Huntington Beach Mazda stores are good, well run, competent and respected dealerships. Dealer principal of both stores, John Patterson, is considered first-rate among his peers and in the industry. Tustin Fleet Manager Jimmy Feinstein and Huntington Beach salesperson Joe Rosales are equally professional and delights to work with. Both strong assets to their respective outlets. However, two aspects of our purchase and ownership experience regrettably reduce our rating to a 4/5. First, ours was a cash and no-trade deal. In theory, there was no need for F&I beyond signing the contract, handing over a check and driving away. But no, we were subjected to an intense sales effort to buy a $1000+ package of paint sealant and fabric protectant. "You can pay for it on your credit card" we were advised, as if to suggest $1k or more is just a few shekels here and there. We said no at the outset, but our no wasn't good enough. We kept getting hammered. Our initial position not being taken seriously was something I found exceptionally grating and demeaning. When we said "no", we meant NO! Beyond that, a week or two ago we received a ""friendly e-mail notice" advising our license plates had arrived at the dealership and were available for pickup. With an accompanying offer to install the plates in their service department; potentially, though not specifically stated, for free. What? When we buy new or used cars, as we often do, the DMV invariably sends plates directly to our home. This clearly a shameless ploy on the part of the dealership to get us to make a 40-mile round-trip to the store, waste time waiting around, and in some way spend more money on something we neither want, have asked for, nor need. We had to formally respond to the dealership requesting the plates be sent to our home, which it dutifully did. But we still should not have had to waste our time reading a fatuous, cynical, "friendly" e-mail and responding to it. We like the store. We like the people. We love our new car. But given selected annoying practices, we cannot in good conscience give Tustin Mazda a 5/5. More

She also really believes in the Mazda line. I was interested in a "low end" Mazda3 sedan and she had one left just the way I wanted. The Mazda3 does NOT come across as a "low end" car! It is comfortable bordering on luxurious! Janell was always on the ball taking care of our needs and managing all that paperwork. Additionally, I got exactly the car I wanted over the course of a holiday weekend! She's the only "gal" there. I enjoyed her relaxed low pressure style. I had been considering using a buying service to avoid pushy salespeople, but she was absolutely great! More
