Disabled Car My car powered and shut down. I had it towed to Uptown. Everyone was really helpful. Turned out I needed a new alternator. While I was very satisfied My car powered and shut down. I had it towed to Uptown. Everyone was really helpful. Turned out I needed a new alternator. While I was very satisfied with the service and repair, I don’t think I should have been charged $120 for diagnostic work since I proceeded with the repair. In the past, if you agreed to the repair then the diagnostic fee was waived. I don’t know when this practice changed. When I described what happened and the alerts I was receiving, I was told it was probably a battery (but I said it was a new battery) or alternator problem. It doesn’t seem much diagnostic work or time was required. Final bill $950. More
