I just completed my 8th lease (2020 F150 4X4 Sport) with John and it went off without a hitch. I already knew what I was looking for as I'd previously test-driven the higher-end version (no base models available locally). He made the entire purchase process quick and painless- in and out in under 3 hours including financing and a trade-in. I've only had it a few days, but I'm loving my new Escape SE Sport Hybrid! I'd been really impressed with this Dealership on the service-side when I needed an emergency repair on my Focus while visiting and that experience definitely carried over on the sales side. More

I had an awesome experience at Varsity Ford. My salesperson was Jeff Scott, whom I highly recommend. He was in constant contact with me on the progress of my loan, when I could come out for a test drive, and when I could pick the vehicle up. He explained the loan documents thoroughly and explained what steps I should expect next in with each step of the buying process. Jeff was very knowledgeable about the cars and took the time to give me a thorough tour of my new car and it’s accessories. I found the Volvo model I was looking for on Cars.com while visiting family in Grand Rapids. I was put in touch with Sian Pickett who had the car running with the air conditioner on when I arrived. Unfortunately, the dealership fell below my expectations regarding social distancing. I had my temperature checked upon entering, but Sian had to escort me through narrow passageways past more people than I have come in contact with in the previous five months combined. The dealership was very busy inside with people sitting in close proximity in waiting areas and people servicing copy machines and/or computer equipment in the hallway I had to traverse numerous times. Sian was attentive and helpful, immediately offering to let me take a test drive. This drive convinced me I wanted to buy this particular car. The negotiating phase and confirming the sale required his leaving his desk frequently. Several times I left the building to wait outside in order to avoid the aerosols of so many people in the building. While almost everyone was wearing a mask, they do not completely eliminate droplets and aerosols. With so many people transmitting Covid 19 without showing symptoms, I was not comfortable with the situation. Being a person who has avoided visiting any stores for five months, this was a huge compromise for me. It could easily have been eliminated by setting up several work stations in the shade of the building, or instituting the no-contact protocols offered by other dealerships in their internet advertising. I put a cash deposit on the car and returned home to Rochester, NY, to obtain certified funds to pay in full. When I returned to Ann Arbor, once again, there was a lot of running in and out of the office to get things printed and signed. It wasn’t the process that bothered me, but the having to be in a closed environment with a lot of other people--both customers and staff. This is a high-paced dealership that does not show Covid 19 the full respect and requisite caution it deserves. This may be difficult to understand if you’ve never been in the hospital on the brink of death. It is going to take a lot more work than simply wearing masks and using hand sanitizer to beat this disease. Fortunately, four days after returning home, I seem to be in good health, and the Volvo seems to be a great car. Under normal circumstances, I would recommend the dealership, but they need to clean up the distancing and congestion during this Covid crisis. This is not to take away from the fine job of the people I worked with, but with the system they have in place. With Covid still a huge problem, this is not a time of "business as usual". More

The dealership is taking Covid very seriously and had a number of practical processes in place to ensure everyone was safe and felt comfortable. Our only complaint was that the car was a bit dirty when we picked it up: crumbs in the cup holder, candy wrapper and pen in the center armrest and numerous fingerprints on the inside windows. However, overall a positive experience. More
