My husband and I were searching for a new Volvo XC60, and we were not received much help from another dealer in Maryland. We went out to Herb Gordon and met with John Upchurch. John was incredibly knowledgeable about not only the Volvo XC60 but also the competition. He was able to answer all of our questions (something most other salesmen were not able to do surprisingly), and he provided us with outstanding customer service. It took us about three weeks to decide on purchasing the Volvo since we test drove just about every other competing car, but during that time, we were never pressured from John. He kept in touch with us to make sure our questions were answered, but he did not pester us. Once we finally decided on the XC60, the ordering process went very smoothly (although we did have to wait a bit since John was working with other customers). It took us about a half hour to pick out our options and fill out the credit application. Neal (last name?) helped us get started on our paperwork while John was working with the other clients, and he was quite helpful as well. Overall, compared to the other local Volvo dealer in Maryland, we had a great experience with Herb Gordon. Although we don't have kids, the play area they have there seems like it could be helpful for parents. My one suggestion for Herb Gordon is to update and modernize the showroom and waiting area. More
Everyone at the dealership clearly had my best interests at heart and were respectful of my time. As importantly, I had a deal worked out with another MileOne dealer for a completely different car, but the Volvo was a better fit for our needs. The first dealer contacted Eddy at Herb Gordon to see whether they can accept the deal and they did -- honoring every discount and every benefit the first dealer worked out. Eddy was extremely responsive, Neal was bustling in and out of the showroom to prep the car on a hideously cold and windy evening, and Brian was over-the-top professional and up-front about everything. In fact, Brian explained exactly when/why each optional service was beneficial so that I could make a decision on need and value and not on price/cost. Everyone was simply a genuine, authentic, straight-shooter and I won't think of another dealer for my needs before I think of them. I only wish they were closer so I could get my new Volvo serviced in their shop. More

He cam out of his way to pick me up in the car that I'd identified on the web, and let me drive it back to the yard where he assisted me in making the purchase, arranging for insurance, and outlining next steps for emissions certification so that his company could proceed to register and send me the tags. He even provided lunch! I am very grateful for his excellent assistance, advice, support - and hospitality! More
Took my S40 in for a major service and a recall repair. When I got the car home it had an overwhelming gas smell, that had never occurred before. It did not, took it back for a third time and was told there was a pin hole leak in a hose. $350 to fix a problem that did not exist until they worked on my car. Have had other experiences having to take the car back multiple times to get it fixed right. Now I have been taken. I will be finding a different Volvo service center. More

Both he and Bryan were very straight-shooters and did not try to sell me every option in the book. I went to this dealer thinking I might buy a Subaru and ended with the Volvo, but was willing to travel the extra 40 minutes, because I had neard negativw things about the Volvo dealer nearer me, and knew I had not been happy with Fitzgerald's Subaru. John Hulsizer was a great salesman: knowledgeable, patient, friendly. Couldn't have been better. So far my experience has been a very positive one. I hope I like my Volvo as well as I did my Subaru. My family is definitely a 'Volvo Family' and has been since the early 1970s, so purchasing a car from Herb Gordon Volvo was a natural decision for me. I have always driven Volvos (except for a small and regrettable hiccup after college when I purchased a Honda), so after a less-than-pleasant few years driving that particular make of vehicle, I returned to Volvos with a deeper appreciation of not only the quality and reliability of Volvos in general, but the customer service at Herb Gordon. The courteous atmosphere and sincere concern (for the vehicle as well as its driver) were just two of the many things that I had taken for granted when I had my Honda, so I was quite pleased (and felt a million times safer) to be back...that was four years ago. I recently found myself in need of a new car and (yet again) did not hesitate to go to Herb Gordon Volvo. Jim Boratenski was very patient with me as we mulled over the many options to consider when buying a new or used vehicle. He and Bryan Liddiard made the experience thoroughly enjoyable and dare I say, fun. I would definitely recomend them to any prospective buyer and have already commented to a friend on my incredibly positive experience. More

My wife and I were on a pretty strict budget, knew exactly the car we wanted (we found it on-line) but had no idea what to expect when we contacted Jim about the sale. Jim was wonderful, very competent and extremely easy to work with. He promptly returned our calls and emails and even made a special trip (past Baltimore) to retrieve the vehicle we wanted. He and Al(sales manager)gave us a great price, but didn't treat us any differently than the customers purchasing luxury cars costing four/five times what we were paying. These guys know (and appreciate) cars. They're honest, fair, and seem to really enjoy what they do. I know we'll be back if/when we opt for a new Volvo or Suburu.
