Unexpected cost Brought my Grand Marquis in for the battery cables to be changed. Had to order the cables a few days before ($240), then $280 to have them installed. Brought my Grand Marquis in for the battery cables to be changed. Had to order the cables a few days before ($240), then $280 to have them installed. OK, it's a 2006 model and the positive cable looked like an octopus on the non battery end, so that wasn't too surprising. The service dept. is first come first served so the 3 and a half hour wait was acceptable. Then, Susan, my service advisor came to me and explained the car wouldn't start because the "Throttle Box Valve" was stuck open and needed to be replaced before the car would start and that would be another $370. Of course the car is 14 years old and anything might need replacing, except that car dealer service departments have such bad reputations about padding bills, doing unnecessary work, breaking things so they can fix them and charge the customer, etc....... Now, I wasn't back in the work area when the work was done but, who knows? Susan was very nice and apologetic and took $40 off the bill. More
