Spoke with Patrick and he was very accommodating and helpful considering my remote situation. Everything was going well and I didn't see any red flags until we got to the vehicle price. The sticker price for this particular vehicle had been listed on the dealer's website as $24,744 so I inquired about the out the door price. The OTD price ended up being $3.4k higher! When I requested the price breakdown, the price (leaving aside the expected registration and state taxes) included a significantly bloated dealer fee and a $900 "security" fee. After further discussions with Patrick, we established that the "security" fee was simply data dots, which I can literally buy and adhere myself for $200. I told Patrick to take it out of the price because I didn't want the data dots and that's when things got ugly. Management had apparently dropped the price online far enough to get someone interested, but it was too low to make a profit off the trade-in. To correct this error, they made the "security" fee non-negotiable. When I protested, they removed the listing from the website and then relisted the vehicle almost $2k higher. Then management came back and offered to honor $200 under the original out the door price. I told them to meet my price or I'd go do business with someone else. And go do business someone else I did. Management, that vehicle is still sitting on your lot as of 1/22. And because you screwed up, I'm giving you a well deserved 1-star. Your actions were absolutely unacceptable and I refuse to reward shady tactics like a non-negotiable "security" fee. If it's an illegitimate fee, it needs to go into the sticker price - no exceptions. Buyer beware. More
