Extremely expensive repairs I feel like their service center is ripping folks off. I brought our Prius in to see why the gas milage suddenly dropped almost 20%. They charged me $ I feel like their service center is ripping folks off. I brought our Prius in to see why the gas milage suddenly dropped almost 20%. They charged me $150 - an hours fee - and found nothing wrong. They told me they suspected the main air flow sensor needed cleaning, but they would have to charge me $500 to do that. After checking on the web I found numerous videos explaining that this is a simple, 5-10 minute process and requires no special equipment. In other words, if they suspected that was the problem, they could have easily taken care of it in the hour they had the car. And even if, for some reason they wouldn't pop the sensor out and spray the cleaner on it, they certainly shouldn't be charging customers $500 for this simple, fast, inexpensive repair. The whole process literally involves removing 2 easily accessible screws, spray the sensor with a cleaner, and replacing it. Thats not service, thats highway robbery! I think it's time to find a good local shop I can trust to do my car repairs from now on. More
I took my brand new car in for a screw in my tire and a bad wiper blade. I also had a pheasant fly into my mirror and it popped off the black cover around the base. I was informed that the tire was ruined bad wiper blade. I also had a pheasant fly into my mirror and it popped off the black cover around the base. I was informed that the tire was ruined and the piece on the mirror was not available and that I had to purchase both a new tire and entire new mirror. I took my car to Firestone and they repaired the tire with no problem. After spending over 30,000 on a brand new car less than a month earlier he easily could have replaced the mirror and warrantied it out but was more concerned with selling me product I did not need.
