I’ve been a loyal, returning customer of Coulter Nissan for years, having previously purchased a Sentra, Altima, and Murano through them. Each time, the process was smooth, transparent, and hassle-free, ex for years, having previously purchased a Sentra, Altima, and Murano through them. Each time, the process was smooth, transparent, and hassle-free, exactly what you hope for when making such a significant purchase. It’s this positive history that made me confident in returning once again as I began looking to upgrade my current vehicle. I reached out to Coulter Nissan’s internet department and began working with Luke after finding a pre-owned vehicle that caught my attention. Given my past experiences, I expected another straightforward and professional transaction. Unfortunately, that’s not what I encountered this time. In the past, I’ve specifically chosen Coulter over other Nissan dealerships in the Valley for two key reasons: they’re family-owned, and they didn’t tack on unnecessary dealer add-ons or hidden fees. Sadly, that seems to have changed. I was surprised and disappointed to learn that Coulter is now adding a “reconditioning fee” on top of the price for their certified pre-owned vehicles. In my opinion, and based on standard industry practices, the cost to recondition and certify a vehicle should be built into the price—not passed along to the customer as an extra charge. Certification is supposed to represent a promise of quality and value, not a justification for inflated pricing. This shift in policy makes Coulter no different than many of the other high-pressure, fee-heavy dealerships in the area, and that’s truly disappointing. What once set them apart now feels like a thing of the past. I genuinely hope they reconsider this approach and return to the transparent, customer-first model that earned my loyalty in the first place. For now, though, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
