Unexpected new car purchase!! - KSB
When I arrived at Garavel last week I wasn't completely planning to buy a new car, but I kind of had a feeling I might be. My 2010 Forester, which I loved, needed some work. It was enough work that I made the decision it was time to upgrade. Evelyn made it so easy for me to understand my options, shared multiple prices, etc with me (while I juggled a few work conference calls in between) and helped me pick out the perfect next car. I felt no pressure from her, and am SO SO happy with the car I purchased. She even spent a chunk of time with me in my new car once it was mine showing me how all of the features work. She's the best!! I love my subaru's!!

I was a new service customer to Center Subaru yesterday. I called to request a repair to a mud flap and they took me in the next day as well as notified me of a recall on my car. The service person that worked with me was super nice and got me in and out in the time promised. I intend to keep bringing my car back for service. I was more than happy to share my experience when Liza Wynne reached out to me!

Professional, friendly, no pressure - Jay Dunn
Rachel Santos did a great job representing the company and stock available. I did not have my mind set when I walked in, and took several visits over a short period of time to come to a decision. At no time was there any pressure. She was professional and friendly, blending the two with ease. Same for Carlos, though I met him only once. Highly recommended. Jay Dunn.

Long drive to get there .... - Baycreek
My wife and I live in Mattituck on the North Fork of the Island. Found the car we wanted at Grand Prix , so not around the corner . This is our eighth Subaru, but our first at this dealership. Brian was a pleasure to deal with and put us at ease with the purchase and process.
If dealing with Brian is any indicator of Grand Prix service it was worth the drive.

Good but could be better - michael
Phil our service advisor is good to work with. He is knowledgeable and always finds a slot in the service schedule to suit our needs. He is an asset to the service centre.
The service technicians could do better. After a recent service oil droplets were visible in numerous areas of the engine bay. The technician should clean up after his/her work. After reconnecting the battery, clocks and auto headlight features should be reset.
For me the benchmark for Subaru service is Heuberger in Colorado Springs. Excellent staff and facilities.
DIY parts can be expensive at Curry. I can purchase parts cheaper, including shipping, from other dealers online.

An EXCELLENT DEALERSHIP with a great salesman and manager - Patrick
I’m writing this review a few months late but good news is important no matter when! In September 2019 my wife and I decided to trade in our “FIRST” Subaru. We were interested in trading up from a 2017 Subaru Impreza Limited to a 2019 Subaru Legacy Limited. We searched the internet for a specific color combo in the Legacy Limited line. We found four that fit across Long Island and went out together to see how we could do with trading in our 19,000 mile “well kept” 2017 Impreza. We already calculated a trade in price range through the Kelly’s Blue Book website and as a multi car family we felt confident that the trade in condition was way above average. Our first few experiences at Subaru dealerships on Long Island were not great. We were low balled on the trade in value twice. One dealership was thousands under the average trade in value and our Impreza was above average and it wasn’t hard to see. When we came upon South Shore Subaru and met up with a young and honest salesman Michal Dymnicki we were treated very well and knew once we started the process of viewing the 2019 Legacy and going over the Kelly’s Blue Book trade in process we came to the right dealership. Michal was not trying to xxxxxxxx us...he complimented the way we kept our Impreza and worked hard to give us a fair trade in price along with a fantastic end of the year price for the beautiful 2019 Legacy. Everything went smooth. Manager Joshua Tauber assisted in the sale to confirm we had found the right dealership out of the four we viewed on Long Island. After a short weekend we came in on a Monday to complete our business deal and all went perfect. The new Legacy was presented to us with all we asked for. The detailing was outstanding and the mechanical check list was done to precision. We want to thank Michal and Joshua and all of the very professional staff members at South Shore Subaru for making this transaction a fantastic experience. We will recommend our family and friends to stop by and try out the South Shore Subaru buying experience...they won’t be disappointed!

Great experience at this location. My sales person Mario was amazing. He goes above and beyond to explain everything about the car you are interested in. I went in to just look around but thanks to Mario, I drove off with the car I've been eyeing. The process does take long, so make sure you have the time.

The 60K is a big service and expensive. The weather delayed dropping off the car The pick up was slow and it took about 10 min to get someone to take my payment and give me the paperwork. The paperwork was not completed by the technician and the supervisor checked some of the boxes on status of my cat in front of me. My car was not out front and not washed after the supervisor said it was.

We were lucky enough to get Carlo Colombo when we walked into the Subaru dealership. I was not sure which model I wanted but Carlo listened and I ended up purchasing an Outback. He was very patient (three times of coming back and testing out cars) and was very helpful and informative, but best of all, did not pressure me. When we went to pick up the new car, Santos helped go through all of the controls and was very patient too. I had a great experience and I love my Outback!

Horrible Horrible Horrible - Cheryl
After a nightmare when they delivered my new car - was there from 7pm-1am due to errors they made, they only gave me 1 key to my new car because they couldn’t find the second one. They promised to send the second key. It has been 5 months - still no key. The salesman Joe and the store manage refuse to answer my emails and calls all this time. Just awful - taking advantage of a senior. Now I have to go to small claims court - such a pain!!!!

it all started with the valve spring recall - Em
My experience with this dealership has been frustrating, to say the least. I bought a new 2013 Subaru Impreza Sport at Bertera in July 2013. I took my car there for scheduled service for the first three years (until June 2013) and during this time I noticed inconsistencies about the services that needed to be performed. For example, on one visit for a regularly scheduled oil change, I was told that the breaks were getting low and would probably need to be replaced soon. The breaks were in the "yellow" category on their service report. On my next oil change, it was the tires that were "yellow" on the service report. My next trip, both the tires and breaks were "green', no attention required. I was concerned that they may be trying to push repairs earlier than necessary, so I went to another dealership and eventually a local place for oil changes and other maintenance. I continued to have the regular scheduled maintenance and checks per the manufacturer's recommendations.
I received two recall notices in January of 2019. One for a break switch and another for valve springs. When I called to schedule an appointment for these, the appointments were about two months out, so I did not schedule it immediately. I was called in early September 2019 from the dealership reminding me that the recall work still needed to be done, so I brought the car in the following week. While the car is getting the recall work, the service adviser calls me to say that the head gasket is leaking and that they can do the service for a lower cost since the engine is already out for the recall. I'm told that the labor savings will be significant to have the work done now so I agree. They have my car for five days. Seven hundred and fifty miles after picking up my car at Bertera for the recall work and head gasket replacement, my oil pressure light (the red one) comes on. It's a Friday afternoon and I'm stuck in parking lot. I call Bertera to tell them I am getting it towed and am told that I need to bring the car in Monday; that their policy is to have customers drop the car off just prior to the appointment and their next available appointment is Monday around 10am. I ask to talk to my service adviser or a manager and I am told no one is available. So, I called another Subaru dealership. They say I can get the car towed there, but they won't look at it until the following Monday. I get it towed there; they are happy to help and seem less than surprised that I had an issue with Bertera. The next day, a Saturday, my husband calls Bertera to complain and my service adviser from my last visit insists on arranging a tow truck to get the vehicle to Bertera and getting me a loaner while they diagnose and fix the issue. My car is towed to Bertera that evening. A few days later, I am told that the oil pump release valve was stuck open and that the oil pump will need to be replaced. They "goodwill" the oil pump and labor costs, which was great, except that less than 24 hours after picking up my car the check engine light comes on. I go to an auto parts store to have the engine code scanned and it indicates a camshaft timing position issue. I drive the car to the dealership, tell them I want a loaner and that I don't want to be charged for the diagnosis. A few days later, I am told that the engine light illuminated because of a "stored code" and that there was no other problem. I tell them I am concerned that something was messed up during the valve spring/head gasket repair and that I want them to drive the car to ensure that there is no other issue. A week later I get my car. I did not pay for anything except the cost of a tire pressure sensor that needed to be replaced; the tire pressure sensor light came on while they had they car.
As of this moment it seems my car is now running without any issue. However, I am concerned that the repair/recall work performed at Bertera has seriously damaged the engine and that I will be forced to prematurely replace the vehicle as a result. After this experience I will not be buying another Subaru or bringing my car to Bertera to be serviced ever again.
Unsatisfactory - Third time Forester buyer
I spoke to salesman, "Eric" yesterday to see if he could re-set the date and time on my 2019 Forester Limited. He asked me who my salesman was. When I said I didn't buy my car from this dealership he initially said that if I didn't buy it from there, he couldn't help me. When I protested and said that I was probably going to have my service done by this Subaru dealership, his response was that when I bring it in for service, they would re-set the time then. As I continued to protest, he said that maybe he could do it next week. I decided I would have Donaldson do it. They are more customer friendly.
