I bought an after market obdii device made specifically... - Richard
I bought an after market obdii device made specifically for bmw. The device indicatored that there was a problem with the fem software. Recommendations from the obdii device was to take it to the dealership to reinstall the fem software. After an argument from the service assistant and then the service technician they told me that if there was a problem with software that my car would not operate properly and that this device would null and void any warranty. I asked that they check it out anyway and they found that in fact there was a problem with the software. It was reinstalled and I got a bill for nearly $300. I was in and out in two hours and it probably only took them an hour and no parts. The car was a 2017 BMW 330i x with 36 K miles and surely should be under warranty. The reason I was charged this exorbitant amount I was told was that the obdii device made the warranty null and void. Even so almost $300 for probably less than an hour labor and no parts. This is totally unreasonably and I would advise against this service center and think long and hard about buying a BMW
