After 30 years living on the Seattle eastside and - dougralphs1
After 30 years living on the Seattle eastside and routinely purchasing new performance and semi-exotic vehicles every 12–24 months, I've experienced the sales processes at the majority of performance dealerships across the greater Seattle area. That context is important — because my experience at West State Motorsports was exceptional enough to motivate what is likely the longest review I've ever written.
INVENTORY & PRICING
West State curates a genuinely impressive selection of pristine enthusiast vehicles. What sets them apart isn't just quality — it's the consistent theme of unique and rare inventory you simply won't find at the typical performance dealer. Pricing, upon careful review, ranges from fair to genuinely good deals. One important caveat: this is a dealer that knows exactly what their inventory is worth and what your trade-in is worth. If you're hunting for distressed inventory or a below-market bargain, temper expectations accordingly. Their knowledge cuts both ways.
SALES EXPERIENCE
The sales team is attentive and genuinely customer-focused. My salesperson, McKay Rands, took real time to understand my specific needs and worked to find not just the right car, but the right deal structure for my situation. I will note there's a fine line between a highly motivated sales team and being overly pushy — my salesperson approached that line at moments. That said, it never crossed into uncomfortable territory, and the underlying intent was clearly to earn my business rather than manufacture pressure.
LOCATION — BETTER THAN YOU THINK
I was pleasantly surprised. From the Seattle eastside, West State clocked in at roughly 41 minutes — meaningfully faster than heading to University District or Lynnwood (both 50+ minutes in typical conditions). One important caveat from personal experience: do not pick an I-405 closure weekend to make the drive. I did exactly that and paid dearly for it. Time your visit wisely and the commute is a non-issue.
AFTER-SALE SUPPORT
Due to my time constraints, the dealer wasn't able to complete a complimentary oil change before I took delivery — they've honored it for a future visit. Small gesture, but meaningful follow-through.
THE SIGNING PROCESS — THE BEST I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED
In over 50 car purchases across my lifetime, I have never had a better finance and paperwork experience. I had a dinner reservation that my wife would have absolutely not forgiven me for missing. The finance manager was aware of this, moved efficiently, and — most remarkably — presented zero pressure to add warranties, paint coatings, prepaid maintenance packages, or any of the agonizing upsells that typically extend a signing appointment into an endurance event. He respected my time completely. That alone has earned my loyalty.
SUMMARY
I came in as a skeptical, experienced buyer with high standards and left having found a new dealership I'll be returning to for future purchases. If you're a serious enthusiast buyer in the Seattle area, West State Motorsports deserves a spot at the top of your list.lerRater.com
