I dropped in at this Hyannis-area dealership to test-drive the new 2010 Saab 9-5 Aero. The old-school salesman I drew didn't seem very knowledgeable about or interested in either me or the vehicle. This GM dealership sells mostly Buick and Cadillac; their Saab franchise is probably an artifact of GM's ownership of Saab for the previous 20 years.
After the test drive, I voiced my reservations in regard to the ride quality and lack of certain options, but he didn't seem much interested in finding the answers to my questions. I later learned on my own that the ride quality could be modified through a configuration menu, but he apparently didn't even know about that feature.
The dealership had just received a Turbo4 version of this model the day before, and I thought that maybe its different suspension might be more to my liking. However, the salesman said that they not yet received a window sticker or invoice for the car and didn't even have any idea which equipment was on it. I thought that window stickers had by law to be affixed at the port of entry.
He promised to call me with the information and set up a test drive. He did neither. Apparently he didn't consider me a serious sales prospect, which was a big mistake on his part. After waiting a week for a call-back, I went to another dealership, drew a much more pleasant, helpful, and better-informed salesman, test-drove both models, made my selection, and placed an order on the spot.
