I recently purchased a Certified Pre-Owned VW Passat from VW of Oak Lawn. While I love VW cars and was excited about my purchase, the experience quickly turned sour the very next day. I noticed that the ring VW of Oak Lawn. While I love VW cars and was excited about my purchase, the experience quickly turned sour the very next day. I noticed that the ring around the passenger-side climate control knob was missing—a detail that should have been caught during their so-called “120-point inspection.” I immediately contacted my sales rep, Alexis, who asked me to schedule a service appointment. However, once I arrived at the service department, it felt like sales and service were operating in completely different worlds. The welcoming attitude I received during the purchase quickly vanished. Suddenly, no one could make eye contact, and it felt like people were trying to distance themselves from any responsibility. What was most frustrating was the response from Nate Swanson, the Used Car Manager. Despite the fact that the missing knob could be clearly seen in the original vehicle listing, and despite it being a functional part of the car, he refused to replace it. I was told that neither service nor sales would approve the repair. A $70 part (with a $523 replacement quote) was apparently not worth their time to fix—despite the dealership’s own oversight. When I asked how they could sell a car advertising a feature that’s not even usable, the response was essentially: “We understand, but we won’t fix it.” This level of indifference was shocking. I meet hundreds of people every day, and I can honestly say I’ve never encountered a more unprofessional or dismissive front-end manager. As for Alexis, I expected more accountability from the person who sold me the car. The lack of follow-through and support post-sale is extremely disappointing. Bottom line: I love VW vehicles, but I would strongly advise anyone considering VW of Oak Lawn to think twice. The post-sale support is severely lacking, and once the sale is made, you're essentially on your own—even when it comes to basic issues caused by their own oversight. Save yourself the headache and choose a dealership that stands behind its vehicles and values customer satisfaction. More

The service was prompt and responsive, though the end result was less than desirable. Even though I had an appointment to come in and negotiate the purchase, the car was not delivered in “ready to drive result was less than desirable. I also received no “walk through” on how to perform the basic operations of the car. The fuel economy and range of the car were overstated. More
