I was co-signing for my Granddaughter on a new car. The way the paperwork was laid out, it felt like I was buying the car, and not her. Anyway, I didn't give it much thought after that until I receiv The way the paperwork was laid out, it felt like I was buying the car, and not her. Anyway, I didn't give it much thought after that until I received a bill for the first payment. I called the finance office and was told that the car purchase was mine and that I have to make the payments. I tried to explain that I was just co-signing and that my granddaughter was the buyer and was told that I was the buyer and if I didn't pay, the case would go to debt collection. This is not the way to do business, and the finance office needs to have a meeting and make sure that the actual buyer of the vehicle and the co-signer are treated as such. As a private citizen, I do not appreciate being threatened with debt collection. In other words, they need to get their act together. Also we were there for six hours trying to get the car purchase settled. More
