I bought an Optima from Classic Kia and after almost 5 years the engine self destructs. The dealership would not budge, because even though there are several recalls for that engine, there specifically wa years the engine self destructs. The dealership would not budge, because even though there are several recalls for that engine, there specifically was not one for that vin number. So I was told that there would be no assistance at all. So I started looking at their used vehicles and found a decent 2019 with reasonable miles and a decent price. I test drive it and everything was fine. Take it home and the next day I am driving to work and a check engine light comes on. The mechanic gets under the truck and the transmission solenoid has a bad circuit, the shocks are worn, the oil need’s to be changed as well as the all the filters. Not so worried about the latter, but dropping the transmission and replacing the solenoid is over 1000 dollars that the worthless powertrain warranty will not cover. Before I brought it to Christian brothers, I initially brought it Classic Kia where their mechanics sent it to Classic Chevrolet. Classic Chevrolet said it would be weeks before they could even look at it. I just purchased this vehicle. It is one of their “certified pre-owns”. It just rolled off their parking lot and you are telling me it will be weeks before you can even look at it. I can say this. If you go to Classic Kia or Classic Chevrolet, bring an OBD-ll scanner or an independent mechanic before you purchase. Classic will not ever get my business again. This includes my extended family and everyone else I can persuade. More
