On the way to see a show in Milwaukee my 24 Wrangler 4xe suddenly dropped out of cruise and went into “fast limp” mode (60mph max). We were at the exit for the dealership so we ran there hoping it was nothing major or at the least we could get a loaner. We get there at 12:45 and am told there were no loaners available, and being that late in the day on a Saturday there was no longer shuttle service. We had to take an uber home as no car rentals were open on Saturday. Monday I get a call telling me it’s my PCM and it needs to be replaced, said one was on the way and should be ready in a day or two. Weds he calls me at 9am to tell me my Jeep is ready. I get a ride from a coworker (had to bribe him with a full tank of gas), get the keys (had to pay for an oil change that I didn’t need because “it was stuck in FORM”(I call xx on that one)). Start to leave the lot and put it so the engine would run and the check engine light comes on. I turn right around and take it back. I get told later that day that they had to reflash the PCM and it needed to go thru drive cycles to relearn and asked if the service mgr could take it home and back for this. I said sure. Called Friday to get an update to either it being done or of a loaner will be available and was told it would be done and I could get it Saturday morning. It’s been a week so far and no issues yet. To sum it up we missed out on the show ($200 in tickets) had to pay for an uber, had to bribe someone to give me a ride, and had to borrow my companies work truck to get home and back for the week AND pay for an oil change I didn’t not need for at least another 4000mi (I get it done every 5-6000mi). They did “fill” my gas tank as they used it all up, and by fill it was between F and 3/4ths. When I called “Jeep Cares” about all this I learned that Jeep actually doesn’t care. Was told they’d only reimburse for a rental car and the other expenses were my own issue (not their exact words but thats the gist). We have bought 3 Wranglers from Palmen in the last 6years totaling about 150k, not to mention the numerous trips to the service dept for oil changes and maintenance. This experience has me questioning if we’ll purchase a 4th. More
