Do not shop at Venice Toyota!Unfair Trade Practices, Do not shop at Venice Toyota! Unfair Trade Practices, False and Unfair Deceptive Advertising, and Deceptive Practices • On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Do not shop at Venice Toyota! Unfair Trade Practices, False and Unfair Deceptive Advertising, and Deceptive Practices • On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, I spoke with a salesperson at Venice Toyota named Haile. I told her I wanted to buy a specific car and would be paying cash. The car I wanted was a 2021 red Toyota Camry XLE hybrid. Haile said the vehicle was available, but I had to wait for it to be delivered. • Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Haile called back and said the car would be ready on Thursday and made an appointment for me to pick it up on Saturday, March 27 at 11:00 AM. • Wednesday, March 24, 2021, Cortney Wiggins called me and said she would help me with the purchase and confirmed my appointment on Saturday, March 27 at 11:00 AM. • Thursday, March 28, I received a call from someone who said he was the Venice Toyota General Manager. The General Manager said I hit the jackpot—not only was my car in, but a special sale by Toyota Corporate was happening on Saturday. He said I would get the car at a price lower than the dealership could offer. The General Manager said he would have someone call me. I confirmed my appointment on Saturday. • Thursday, March 28, I received a call from someone who said he was the regional representative from Toyota Corporate, and his assistant, Scott, was going to call me. • Thursday, March 28, I received a call from Scott Foster, who said he was the Toyota corporation's regional representative. We confirmed that I wanted to buy that car and that I was a Costco member referred by Costco. • Scott said he would mark it "sold" so no one else would buy it. I said I would meet him on Saturday and pay cash for the car. Scott asked if I had received any quotes, and I said yes. He asked me to send him the quote, and Venice Toyota would beat it. • Friday evening, March 29, Scott Foster called and said he sold the car to someone else. He said I should still come in on Saturday for the Corporate Sale Event and get a great deal on a different vehicle. When I asked why he sold the car when it was promised to me, he said, "Supply and demand." 1. In my opinion, what Venice Toyota's representatives did was a violation of Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, False and Unfair Deceptive Advertising and Deceptive Practices. 2. I found out later that Scott Foster is not a Toyota Corporate Regional Representative. He is a salesman at Venice Toyota and the contact for Costco. 3. To my knowledge, there was no Corporate Sales Event that weekend. More
