However, my opinion has since changed after my first experience with the service department, which has been very disappointing.
Shortly after purchasing the car, I encountered a recurring issue with the AC system. Every morning, a strong moldy smell would come from the vents for about 10 seconds when I started the vehicle. I took the car in for service, and they performed an AC system cleaning twice, but unfortunately, the issue returned within a few days each time.
This week, I returned to Kia of Frisco for the third time to resolve the issue. Arriving there, on Monday, September 23rd, I was given two options: wait while they cleaned the AC system again for the 3rd time or leave the car for a more thorough assessment, which would take a few days. Since I wanted to resolve the problem once and for all, I left the car with them.
I followed up with the dealership on Tuesday and early Wednesday and was repeatedly told that a technician was still working on the car. However, using the Kia Connect app, I could see that the car had not been moved from the parking lot and remained in the same spot for three days. The car was even parked so closely that it was touching the bumper of the car behind it.
After discussing the situation the service manager, I was told that they would open a case with KIA and the only option that was give me was pick up the car without any actual work being done. The service invoice I received claims that an inspection was completed and that the AC filter was replaced, both of these claims are inaccurate. I know this because of the attached pictures and in the first visit I was told that I would have to pay for the Cabin Filter, which I had purchased and installed a new filter myself.
To make matters worse, the dealership could not provide me with a case number for the KIA case they supposedly opened. As a parent of four children, including twin babies, I am highly concerned about the health risks associated with this unresolved AC Mold issue and am incredibly frustrated with the lack of transparency from the dealership.
At this point, I am waiting for KIA to review the case and provide a possible resolution. If this case resolves my problem, I will certainly post an update to this review to reflect that outcome.

Updated Review: The Service Manager contacted me on October 8th, asking me to bring the car back for a more thorough investigation, in collaboration with KIA. Following KIA's recommendation, they inspected the interior of the AC system with a camera and then proceeded to open the HVAC box, where they confirmed the odd and unpleasant odor. Upon further inspection, they found residue that appeared as if something had exploded or been dropped in the evaporator housing, likely during the manufacturing process.
KIA advised a full HVAC box replacement. To complete this, the technician removed the dash, replaced the HVAC box, and refilled and bled the coolant. After test-driving the vehicle, they confirmed that the unusual smell was no longer present.
I’m grateful for KIA and the dealership’s dedication to investigating the issue and providing a solution by replacing the HVAC box. Although I’ll need to test the AC on a hot day to fully confirm the smell is gone, I am confident the problem has been resolved. Additionally, the service department provided a rental car throughout the three-week repair period and maintained excellent communication, keeping me updated on the status of my car, which I greatly appreciated.
