8/11 -Took 2018 Kia Sorento in for scheduled oil change and intermittent check engine light coming on. This vehicle while having 104,000 miles has been very well maintained with all scheduled maintenance a and intermittent check engine light coming on. After being told by our service rep Avery that the check engine light was due to a sensor needing replaced and the estimate was $800. we approved the repair and was told the car would be ready the next day. Next day came and went, then after having to call Kia again for an update, we were told that the sensor did not resolve the check engine light issue and additional diagnostics were needed. The result of that test indicated that an additional repair was needed, and they would not have that part till the following week. That increased the estimate to over $3,000! Feeling skeptical at this point, we approved this additional service and was told Kia service would contact us when the part came in and they could finish the service on the car and they would call when it was ready for pick up. Finally, after calling them again on 8/20, we were told the car was ready to pick up. We immediately drove over to pick up the car. After paying the $3,000+ bill, we went to start the car and just like it was when we dropped it off 2 wks. prior, the check engine light WAS STILL ON! Service tech said, "Oh, we must have forgotten to reset the light, this will just take a couple of minutes." 45 minutes later, we were told that they were not sure what was causing this and they would need to put diagnostics back on to trouble shoot the issue which meant another weekend without our car. Yesterday, we called Derek Kus to check the status of the car, he said he was confident it was something simple happening and that he would contact us this morning but once again, we wait. At his point, I need to say that Kia customer service communication is deplorable! With the staff they have in their service department and they can't pick up a phone to keep a customer apprised of their service status after having a vehicle for over 2 weeks, they need to re-train their staff on the basics of service! Time after time, we were told that they would contact us with their progress on the car but the ONLY time we heard from them is when we called them! This lack of follow through on their part has compounded the frustration and inconvenience of them having the car for over 2 weeks now! More
