There could be more focus on making sure a used car is purchased that it is clean from front to back and inside. Also that the engine is clean . My wife and I drove in from Madison to check out and test drive a particular Mazda CX-5 that we had seen on the Russ Darrow website. We set up an appointment and arrived on time, but waited 20 minutes before drive a particular Mazda CX-5 that we had seen on the Russ Darrow website. We set up an appointment and arrived on time, but waited 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. I actually had to approach another sales person who eventually set us up for a test drive. We liked the vehicle and were ready to buy it on the spot. When we returned from our test drive, Ethan, the salesman who missed our appointment, met us at the door with a handshake and an excuse. We had a few final questions and 20 minutes later we were sitting at his desk with checkbook in hand. Ethan printed out the sales summary and I immediately noticed a $2,799 charge for something called "Xzilon" protection. I told Ethan that I did not want that option, and he told us that it was mandatory, and part of the vehicle's Certification process. I knew this was xx, and frankly I suspect that a lot of what Ethan said during our short time together was xx, and we ended up walking out. On the way home, we called Russ Darrow's Madison dealership, which had previously told us they could access any of the cars in the Russ Darrow network, and they confirmed that the "Xzilon" protection package was optional, not mandatory. We asked them to bring the car to Madison so we could purchase it from them. They ordered it immediately from the Greenfield location. The following day, I was informed that Greenfield had already sold the vehicle. I find it very difficult to believe that after sitting on the lot for over 2 months, they somehow sold it during the 90 minutes when we were driving back to Madison. In retrospect, we should have taken all the bad reviews of Russ Darrow Greenfield more seriously. More
