‼️ DO NOT BUY HERE – BUYER BEWARE ‼️ DISHONEST & UNPROFESSIONAL DEALERSHIP! This has been one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a dealership. I typically don’t write reviews, but I felt UNPROFESSIONAL DEALERSHIP! This has been one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a dealership. I typically don’t write reviews, but I felt compelled to warn others: Do NOT make the same mistake we did – take your business elsewhere. We purchased a used 2019 Ford Transit Connect from KOONS, and within just a few months, everything went downhill. Even before buying the vehicle, we noticed it had issues passing inspection. According to the Carfax report, it failed multiple times before finally passing – and only through one of their affiliated companies. We asked multiple questions about the condition of the vehicle, and we were told it was fine and had passed inspection. Trusting their word, we decided to move forward with the purchase — and that’s when the nightmare began. We were pressured into buying an extended warranty in order to “get a better deal.” At the time, we thought this would protect us in case something went wrong. Unfortunately, that was far from the truth. Within a few months, the vehicle had transmission issues and several other problems. It became clear that this vehicle was already defective when they sold it to us, yet it was presented as being in good condition. Even with the warranty, repairs were either not done correctly or not covered. We’ve now paid two deductibles because, according to them, they “missed the issue” the first time we brought it in. After almost a month in the shop for diagnostics, we picked up the vehicle – only to discover the A/C was making a loud noise right away. We emailed the service manager (who has been completely unhelpful), and they told us to bring it back. Now they are saying we owe over $2,700 for additional repairs – right after we paid a deductible and got the car back. This is absolutely unacceptable. My husband spoke with a service advisor who said, “You didn’t pay my guys to diagnose every part.” Excuse me? You had our car for almost two months because the check engine light was on. That’s exactly what we thought you were doing. To make matters worse, the car still doesn’t work. The customer service is nonexistent – they don’t answer or return calls, and when they do, they transfer you to someone who isn’t even part of the department you’re trying to reach. The entire service department is disorganized, dismissive, and clearly lacks any sense of accountability. We’ve purchased other vehicles in the past and have never had an experience this bad. The lack of professionalism, honesty, and basic customer care is unbelievable. KOONS should be ashamed of how they conduct business. BUYER BEWARE: DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES OR THEIR WORD. THIS DEALERSHIP SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED OR SHUT DOWN. More

I would have liked answers to questions from finance. When it came to the add ons, we asked three, maybe 4 times for the cost of them and he just kept pointing to the monthly payment with financing. He wasnt showing what the cost of each add on was. We were getting irritated and frustrated with that sales technique. Had to force the issue. More

Unsafe vehicles; sounds rather alarming but here is the story.... Purchased a "like new" vehicle (mileage in the 20k) range. Purchase experience was ok and on par for what you would expect. However---mon story.... Purchased a "like new" vehicle (mileage in the 20k) range. Purchase experience was ok and on par for what you would expect. However---months after purchase, a number of warning lights come on and I take it immediately to a (different) local dealership to be diagnosed. Turns out the vehicle (which Koons Sterling Ford boasted about "new brake job") had been installed improperly. One of the four wheels had the brake pads put on backwards thus resulting over the last few months in a failure of the emergency brake system and now the vehicle is not drivable with unsafe braking---Koons Sterling Ford used after-market parts thereby invalidating the vehicle's warranty. I understand mistakes are made and its only one of the four tires (few hundred dollars estimate to fix). The dealership which I took the vehicle insisted that I take it back to Koons Sterling Ford as they would immediately see what was installed improperly and make it right. They didn't. After 8 days of attempting to get an answer, I am at a loss on what to do. Koons is willing to fix, but at my cost. So, if you are contemplating going here, I can safely say that there is a culture problem (perhaps from the recent sale of the dealership in the last few months - they are no longer owned by Jim Koons family but they are keeping the name---now owed by a different conglomerate). I have to say if you care about your self or family from a safety perspective, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. If a dealership installs something that makes your vehicle unsafe, and then will not fix it (again--at a cost of several hundred dollars here). Then you may want to reconsider where you purchase your next vehicle. I will also add (to anyone who reads this entire review) that the laws are actually written to protect the consumer in cases such as this. Virginia has solid Consumer Protection Laws and the Consumer Protection Division of the State AG's office has already preliminarily agreed to take a look, so I have hope. Moreover, the sad part of a business decision here is to save themselves a few hundred dollars will end up costing Koons Sterling Ford thousands of dollars as civil action remains my only remedy. With car rental and other impacts (NONE of which I was seeking---I just wanted my brakes to be made right), its going to cost Koons Sterling Ford significantly more than what it would have to make the one brake/caliper right. Please reconsider the culture of any dealership; as I fear the above story is truly a cautionary tale for everyone. My apologies for such a long review, but as I heard from the State of Virginia; this story is worth telling. More

The salesman was surprised that I was able to notice the trend of increased pricing. "Oh you saw that and have been following?" It's like dealing with one of those dealerships in NY/NJ. These are the sales tactic that give care sales a horrible reputation. Buyer Beware on Koons Sterling Ford and JC Schied. I'm reporting these deceptive sales tactics to WANADA. I don't know how to convince you I'm not a bot or employee, but here I go. I worked with Samir and he comes off as kinda pushy but he delivered. This dealership really came through for me when the car I loved (a used mazda3 touring) was too low to fit up my driveway. They gave me a loaner and put new springs on my new car VERY fast. Pleasant buying experience. Alfonso was Great! knowledgeable I have bought quite a few vehicles in my life. ..a lot of those purchases were from car dealerships. This past purchase of my 2019 F-150 Lariat was b I have bought quite a few vehicles in my life. ..a lot of those purchases were from car dealerships. This past purchase of my 2019 F-150 Lariat was by far the best. I do attribute much of that positive experience to my salesperson, Alfonso. Not only was he polite, calm & well-spoken. He actually knew about the vehicles he was selling!!!! He knew about the different engine, drivetrain options that made each truck what it was. That was valuable and greatly appreciated. The last few dealers I have been in, I knew far more about the vehicles they were selling than they did. That's just awkward. Furthermore, they gave me a good price on my trade, brought the overall price of the truck down and provided competitive financing. AND I was IN & OUT in a very reasonable amount of time. All & all, a good experience. Just to add.. JC in financing was also respectable, informative and NOT pushy. Thanks again guys! More

Quick thinking by Koons saved my deal My Subaru had over 129K miles on it and I wanted to take advantage of current new vehicle sales happening during this unfortunate pandemic. I knew I wanted a 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid and I reached out to Koons after viewing their inventory online. I hooked up with salesman Yannick Ernsting who quickly located an Escape Hybrid Sport, the level of trim I was interested in, to test drive. I needed to test drive one to see if it was a good fit. Although he offered to drive a 2020 Escape Hybrid Sport to my home for the test drive, I opted to go to the dealer instead. Yannick walked me through the in's and out's of the vehicle's features, and I enjoyed a spirited drive. I was impressed and decided to purchase, using my Subie as a trade, and cash saved as a down payment to keep the financed number in a space I could afford. Well, during negotiations, it didn't appear I could reach my finance goal, and I feared this opportunity would not be for me, but then Yannick and Dave Cumba realized I worked at Home Depot and unearthed an employee discount. Plus, they pumped up my trade-in allowance, and in doing so, the stars aligned and I was in the 'place' I needed to be to make this work. Yannick located an Escape Hybrid Sport in the red color/dark interior I wanted at a sister dealership, and home-delivered the unit to my home 2 days later, driving my trade back to the dealership. It was a great experience! Yannick was on-hand for questions before, during and after the sale. The dealership, as a whole, was transparent in their proceedings. I highly recommend Koons Ford of Sterling. More

Wow experience indeed I never dealt with any of Koon's dealership. I was looking for a pickup Truck. During my search, I found couple of Trucks of my interest. So I made an appointment with a sale person Mr. Samir Kerboussi for January 20. We arrived at the dealership to meet Mr. Kerboussi. He was waiting for us and greeted us at the main entrance. It was a blistery very cold day. He showed us Trucks of our choice and insisted that we should test drive before making up our mind. So we drove couple of Trucks and told him what we want. He is extremely courteous, humble, & very knowledgeable sales person, I ever experience. Negotiations of the price was very smooth and hassle free. Mr. Kerboussi made sure that process was quick and pressure free. While we were going through the financing details, Samir Made sure Our Truck was detailed and fully filled with gasoline. It would be unfair not to pay compliments to used car Manager & the Finance Manager (a young very good guy. May God give a speedy recovery from a recent surgery). Samir is the guy if you are looking for a used vehicle. Koon's dealership was a pleasant experience. They are nice people. More
