I have been helping people take home their dream car since August of 2004. I was raised in Joliet, and lived there most of my life, until moving with my wife to Crest Hill when we got married in 2023. In my free time I like to play adult baseball in leagues in Downers Grove, Naperville, and Tinley Park. I like to collect baseball, football, and basketball trading cards going back to the 1940's. If I had to choose a favorite car I am biased with the Chevrolet Corvette, with being around them for most of my life.

I shopped 8 Mazda dealerships before finding Hawks Mazda. Every one had multiple CX-5 models in stock, same year, same config, same color (nothing unique). I was willing to pay LIST price. I was PAINFUL (until I found Hawks Mazda & met up w/ James Wolff in sales). My tolerance for BS hit an all time high going through the process. Every other dealer, multiple Napletons, Crystal Lake, Biggers, Elgin, etc. all lived up to the same lame stereotype - no follow-up, unprofessional (in every sense), games, & a a mix of either high-pressure or ‘could not care less’ attitude. Although I’ve always told me kids NOT to buy-in to stereotypes, I figured Chicagoland’s Mazda dealers were going to prove me wrong, Fortunately, I found Hawks Mazda before eating my words. Every touch point, from the first email, to the follow-up call, the email exchange (w/ cool video featuring the specific car I was interested in), to the meeting, test drive, F&I buying process, the intro to the Service team, to the thoughtful follow-up, all of it was flawless. After wasting my time getting frustrated with multiple Napletons (different brothers) & Biggers & Schaumburg & Elgin, I almost gave up & told my kids we were going to wait another 6 months before trying again. Fortunately, I found James & Hawks & drove 90+ minutes away to buy a car. James was the consummate professional: he listened to my requirements, my timeline, my budget, my concerns, & he went out of his way to ensure I was comfortable throughout the process, teaching me about the car, the differences with other models, making sure that I understood all the variables, & most importantly, that every aspect met my needs. James didnt treat me like a “transaction”. He was more like a trusted consultant who appreciated that this was a big decision & he went out of his way to make me comfortable investing in an expensive car (that was also incredibly safe & well stocked with options) for 2 teenagers. Because I had a long commute to Hawks, & even though I showed up on James’ day off, he came into work to help me complete the purchase! His day off! He was happy to help, he was gracious, & WHEN (not if) I buy another car - it will be a Mazda, I will buy it from Hawks, & James will be “my guy”. This was a month ago & I unfortunately can’t remember the name of the F&I manager, but he was a seasoned pro. NO games, just brass tax, “here are a few options that seem to align with your requirements, here’s how they differ, how can I help?” I was stunned. My guard was up, & although I was expecting the squeeze, the upsell, the pressure, none of that happened. Instead, it was “How can I help you buy this car & feel good about it?” It was just EASY and FAST. It was such a good experience, I felt a little bit ashamed for letting the stereotype from Napleton & Crystal Lake lead me to judge the entire auto industry. Then again, I felt like I got a great car, for a great deal, & I met these kind folks at Hawks who redefined what the car dealership experience should look like. I rarely take time to write reviews & although I’m a month late, I’m glad to make the recommendation: GO TO HAWKS MAZDA (and call James)! More
