I purchased a Porsche Cayenne Turbo approximately 15 months ago — a nearly $200,000 vehicle that I expected to represent the pinnacle of German engineering and reliability. Unfortunately, my ownership experience has been defined by a recurring and unresolved computer system fault that has seriously undermined my confidence in both the vehicle and in Porsche as a brand.
Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began displaying persistent error messages related to the onboard computer system. I brought the car to Porsche Sacramento, and to their credit, the service representatives have been courteous and professional throughout — this review is not a reflection of them personally. However, after more than five service visits spanning over a year, the underlying issue remains unresolved.
Each visit follows the same pattern: the car is taken in, a software update is applied, and I am told the issue has been resolved. Within a short time, the same error messages return. No root cause has been identified. No permanent fix has been implemented. For a vehicle at this price point, this is simply unacceptable.
My frustration is directed squarely at Porsche as a manufacturer and the inability of their diagnostic and engineering support to identify and fix a known fault in their own computer system. A $200,000 purchase should come with the assurance that the manufacturer stands fully behind their product, not repeated software patches that fail to address the root cause.
I would strongly encourage prospective buyers to research this issue thoroughly before purchasing. I love what this car is supposed to be — but right now, I cannot recommend it.
