I went in to test drive a new vehicle on a Friday evening with salesman Les. It went well, and after I was given some numbers and asked what it would take to get me to sign and put down a deposit that night. with salesman Les. It went well, and after I was given some numbers and asked what it would take to get me to sign and put down a deposit that night. Eventually I was given an offer I accepted that came from sales manager Dan Gareri. The deal was signed, and I handed over my credit card for a deposit that would hold the vehicle until Monday while I finished up financing on my end. I walked out the door Friday at about 7PM with a signed contract as salesman Les put a ‘sold’ sign in the vehicle. The next morning around 9AM, I have a missed call from Mcmulkin and then a text from Les with a picture of the vehicle with dealer plates on asking if I still want it because someone else is interested and is about to buy it. I ask how this can be when I have a signed deal and deposit? I’m told they took my credit card, but never actually charged the deposit to my card the night before. So, what they did was trick me into thinking it was mine and I had a deal and deposit and went behind my back to continue to try to sell the vehicle and get a deal that was better for Mcmulkin. In the end, it was sold Saturday morning to the other buyer. I don’t understand how it’s legal for them to sign a deal and then sell it to someone else. I should have known something was wrong when I noticed my copy of the contract was not signed by anyone at Mcmulkin. I asked salesman Les about it, and he quickly signed my copy. The Mcmulkin copy probably never got signed so they can weasel their way out of the situation and any liability. This was all orchestrated from sales/sleaze manager Dan Gareri, but I’m sure salesman Les knew what was going on and didn’t do anything about it. This is the type of thing that give car salesman bad reputations. I’m a long time Chevy owner along with several other friends and family. I can say for sure that I and anyone I know will never step foot in Mcmulkin for sales or service of any kind again. They cannot be trusted. I hope losing all future business from a proud group of Chevy owners was worth it to make a few more bucks on one sale, Dan! More
