I would love to share my family’s experience while visiting Jenkins Nissan Lakeland. For the past months, my husband and I have been diligently looking for a car for our daughter who’s graduating visiting Jenkins Nissan Lakeland. For the past months, my husband and I have been diligently looking for a car for our daughter who’s graduating high school and moving on to college this fall. So, while searching online via Carfax, I came across a Nissan Rogue from this dealership in Lakeland. The vehicle was a 2019 with 18,609 mi. It looked promising, so we decided to inquire about it. The dealership quickly responded to our questions. The three representatives were Francisco, Leo (not sure of the spelling but it sounded like this when I first called to ask about the car, this person responded and told me this name), and Emil. I called twice, Wednesday, March 17th and Thursday, March 18th. The second day Fernando answered the call and assured me the car was available and ready for us to check it out along with others similar to that one in mileage in case I didn’t like the color or such. In specific, he mentioned he had three similar to the one I was looking at online. As a buyer, I asked him if the price was negotiable and explained we’re looking for a car for our daughter who’s going to college soon. He was very attentive and told me the sales manager would be more than happy to hear me out, make me happy with the price that best meets our family needs and that his manager was eager to sell the cars in his dealership due to being the end of the closing sales for the month. In other words, he made me feel this was the right place for us to go and invest in a car for our beloved daughter. Everything sounded magical and so welcoming. I was so excited to hear him saying the car was available and that his sales manager would work out a great deal for us. So, I told Fernando I was going to head his way later in the day. I convinced my husband to get off from work as soon as he could to head our way to Lakeland which is a hour from our home. It took us a while as traffic was very heavy that day. So, at 5pm our family, that is, my husband, two girls and me headed out to Jenkins Nissan of Lakeland with great and high hopes. On our way there, one of your sales reps, Emil, contacted me via text asking if I was going to visit the dealership that very same afternoon to provide for a estimated arrival time. To that I replied I was 7 minutes away from the dealership. He texted me back stating that due to his hours going over the Max for his week, he needed to clock out and go home. That Fernando would be taking care of me. Excited, I imagined the workers ready for us to test the car. Our hopes were very, very high. Unfortunately, this is not what took place. When we got there, the car wasn’t ready. They had us wait and served us cold water in the meantime. After waiting a while, we thought it was strange how they could not find the car we had specifically come for. The workers knew what car we wanted to see; why wasn’t it ready after all the texts? We waited until they called us out. To our surprise they greeted us with a much older Rogue car. And it was: -super dirty -awful cigarette smell - over 100,000 mileage -worst Rogue Nissan car I’ve ever seen My husband and girls were quickly disappointed and couldn’t believe their eyes. On a side note, this was my teenage daughters’ first visit to a dealership in their lives. I nicely told Mike, the salesperson “who was thrown into this mess”, as he himself stated, that this wasn’t the car I inquired about. He mentioned it was at a different lot where they keep their used cars. And so we took a trek to the neighboring dealership that the car of our dreams was being held. Once there, about 10 min drive, we waited for a bit, and we felt like there was something wrong. True enough, Mike came back and told us that the car wasn’t there either! He didn’t know what to say and what to do at that point so he drove us back to the dealership. My husband automatically noticed something was fishy and quickly told me he doesn’t trust this business. Sadly, this was the impression given to us all. As a consumer this is unacceptable! My daughters have tons of homework they could have done during this hour we wasted. My husband had come home tired from work to drive through traffic to get to this dealership in a complete other city to hear that the workers themselves didn’t know where the car was? Turns out that the little adventure they made us go through was to buy time to get the car I was specifically looking for ready. Guess what? ⁃ Mike took us back to the original dealer, but the car still wasn’t found! ⁃ Mike felt embarrassed not knowing what to do ⁃ It turns out that the car had a broken window, the inside door was half broken. Pieces of broken glass and trash littered the floor. It didn’t look like it could be fixed at all soon. ⁃ The workers fetched the car from a dark corner under a tree behind the dealership. ⁃ The man who promised me the car was in excellent condition, Fernando, never showed up and quickly left us right at the beginning as we waited for the car. He never came back to apologize and apparently had “clocked out” for the evening, or so we were told. Mike quickly apologized and said he was thrown into this and he seemed completely lost. He tried to make us feel better and took us in to his office to find a similar deal. In a matter of short minutes, he said, “Sorry, there’s nothing like this deal in our dealership. So sorry. “ Is this how you and your company make business and operate? I noticed the sales at that specific branch in Lakeland has decreased. With this kind of customer service, people would feel reluctant to buy a car at such a place. I’m writing to you to make you aware of this unacceptable service going on at Jenkins Nissan Lakeland. My family and I drove back so disappointed with a hard to believe experience and story to share with many other consumers to make them aware of what happened to us. We want to prevent them from going through such experience. Not only they... -made us spend gas money on a 1 hour drive to get there and then head back home -waste our precious time -promised us believed they had the car ready for us to go on a test drive - encouraged us that we could make business with them -filed our minds with hopes that this was the right place to buy a car. Most importantly, they didn’t have the guts to face us and tell us the truth. None of them showed up to apologize and tell us the real story. The manager disappeared and was not around. This is because they deceived and lied to us. They took our time, money and hopes for granted. They couldn’t face us and left Mike to deal with their mess. This is completely unacceptable. I am very disappointed. Even worse, I feel so sad my girls had to endure this event as their first time dealership experience that will mark their lives for ever. Think about it. This is what they will tell their high school friends, college colleagues, community, family, and church friends. This is the stigma Jenkins Nissan of Lakeland have earned and scored in their eyes. Better training needs to be offered to your sales persons if you desire a good reputation. Your dealership is creating a disgraceful legacy for Nissan. When you have a friend, you rely, lean, and trust them. The more genuine they are, the more grateful you are. This dealership was not genuine. They assured us they had the car ready for us. Maybe they didn’t know; in that case, they could have checked if it was ready to avoid us 2 hours of wasted gas, time, and hopes. However, it seemed like they did know and just distracted us by goi from dealership to dealership. They treated us like we have no value as people and consumers. My girls are dishearten by this whole experience. We felt Jenkins Nissan didn’t take us seriously as consumers and as a family. “Where the Deals are Real” motto turns out to be false.
