Deceptive practices, misuse of TrueCar.com My husband and I found a used truck that we were very interested in at Boch Toyota South using USAA's car buying service managed by True Car. We got My husband and I found a used truck that we were very interested in at Boch Toyota South using USAA's car buying service managed by True Car. We got pre-approved for an auto loan through USAA before we went to the dealership. After we test drove the truck we were ready to buy it. However, when we sat down with the sales manager he told us we could not buy the truck unless we used Boch Toyota to finance it (at an interest rate twice our pre-approved loan: 3.24% vs 7%). To be clear: THE SALES MANAGER TURNED US AWAY BECAUSE WE WANTED TO FINANCE THE TRUCK USING OUR OWN BANK. He tried to convince us that we could just re-finance the car with USAA 2 weeks later but it's not always that simple and we should be able to finance with any lender we want. He never offered to match our bank's rate he just kept pushing the dealership financing at 7% APR. It's clear that Boch Toyota gets a kickback from the bank for getting customers to finance with them. We have never heard of anything like this before and when we called USAA and True Car, to complain that their car buying service had referred us to a dealership that would not accept a USAA loan, both customer service representatives were surprised to hear of such unethical practices. The worst part is we loved the truck and thought the sales guy, Nick, was great. I wish it had worked out for us. I am cross posting this review and continually following up with USAA and True Car because Boch Toyota should not be able to advertise using USAA's car buying service if they are not going to accept a loan from USAA. More
