Venza to Outback My wife Karen was not happy with her Venza and we were looking for a change. We had Jeeps in the past and were going to look at them and other small S My wife Karen was not happy with her Venza and we were looking for a change. We had Jeeps in the past and were going to look at them and other small SUV's. I had to twist her arm to look at an Outback, that I thought would be ideal for her based on recommendations from friends and Consumer Reports reviews. We met with Nathan Goodro and she politely told him she was only there to look and she had other cars in mind. That did not faze Nathan and we discussed safety, new features, dependability etc. and she reluctantly agreed to test drive an Outback. Nathan was perfect in how he dealt with both of us. He let us know the pluses etc. without pressuring us. He spent a long time explaining features and before we test drove it, worked with her to get the seat in a comfortable position. Karen was pleasantly surprised at how it handled and how comfortable she was. The safety feature linked to the mirrors that let you know when a car was approaching from the left or right was a huge hit with her. When we left Nathan thanked us for our time and he would be happy to talk again when we had more questions. Karen checked a couple of other cars out on her own then she suggested we go back and look at the Outback again. I had given up assuming she wanted to go back to a Jeep. Nathan spent a lot of time with us answering Karen's questions and not trying to oversell the car. We were leaving again and Nathan walked us to the door and said let me know if he could provide anything further. We were out the door when Karen turned to me and said "OK no sense leaving if you are comfortable with the car, lets do the paperwork while we are here" Nathan at that point looked at me and said "I will be back inside after you to talk". I am sure he was as surprised as I was. We went back in and leased a 2015 Outback that day. Last month the lease was running out and Karen said when are we going to get my new Outback! Because she was so happy with the car and I got comfortable driving it on occasion, we bought out the lease and I am now driving the 2015 and she is in the new 2018. The Outback is a very comfortable car that we can rely on for performance and safety year round not just in the winter. I am in a service oriented business and used to dealing with people trying to close me. Nathan clearly understood Karen was the one making the decision in 2015 and gave her the information she needed. He didn't over sell it or pressure her about timing which was smart. Two weeks ago we knew we would go back to see Nathan and if the numbers worked Karen would get a 2018 and I would buy out the 2015. Nathan wrote up the new lease on August 31st and I bought out the lease on the 2015 September 1st. We will be back in 2021 when Karen's lease runs out for the next one. More
