How it should be done On , On Tuesday, April 1th, 2018 I visited a local dealership in search of a late model Grand Cherokee with fairly low miles. The best deal there was On , On Tuesday, April 1th, 2018 I visited a local dealership in search of a late model Grand Cherokee with fairly low miles. The best deal there was a 2015 Summit with almost 40K miles and a rather high price. On Wednesday, April 18th I visited Tyson motors in Shorewood, IL. Walking through the door I was greeted by two sales people and chose to speak with the young man. After a brief chat he showed me to a 2017 Grand Cherokee with only 14,500 or so miles on it. After an impressive drive in it we got the n4ext issue - price. I felt the price was too high and to make a long story short left knowing I'd imparted too much information to the rep while not getting much of a price reduction. I'd also agreed to bring my wife the next day as this was to be her car. So, Thursday, April 19th my wife and I arrived at the agreed upon time and me3t with the rep. He had parked the car right in front and he proceeded to present my wife with a very clear but concise explanation of the various options and systems on it. We went for a drive and she was suitably impressed although it wasn't the color we wanted. After a brief discussion we elected to move on to other dealerships. That's when the rep really sprang into sales action and asked if we would consider a 2018 model on the lot. Out of politeness we agreed to do so. Long story short, we wound up purchasing a new 2018 Grand Cherokee and drove it home. This would not have happened if we felt we had been mistreated or our desires ignored. This 'kid' has been selling autos for 6 years and is only 25 years old. While I feel we did leave some discounts on the table it was a willful decision and we're very pleased with the car so far. More
