The biggest asset this dealership has is Robert Blocker. With the car shortage and my car having died, he made sure I was up to speed on what was happening. When my car was delayed, he let me know. When my car got hit in the lot the day of pickup (by the detailers), he made sure I left happy and with a car until mine was fixed even though I know he didn’t make any money from his sale to me as a result. The buying experience had a terrific part and a very disappointing part. The terrific part was working with Robert Blocker. We reserved a new 2021 RAV4 and Robert was clear on availability, cost, and disappointing part. The terrific part was working with Robert Blocker. We reserved a new 2021 RAV4 and Robert was clear on availability, cost, and fees. No games. He was professional and easy to work with. However, the finalizing portion of the sale was done with a different person and that’s the part that was extremely disappointing. Prior to finalizing a new car sale, customers hear about warranties from the finance dept. Shawn Hammond, Business Mgr, told us about the extended warranty options. This is where our experience became disappointing. New vehicles come with Toyota Care and manufacturer warranties that suffice for our needs. This dealership also offers a “lifetime warranty” for engines (https://www.jimnortontoyota.com/toyota-lifetime-engine-warranty). So we opted NOT to buy an extended warranty. Shawn was displeased with our decision and started a “hard sale” approach that involved another finance person. We were told about the "expensive windshield in the 2021 RAV4," the "subpar car alarm," and “special programming of the windshield” that make the extended warranty worth it. Despite all this, we still opted out of buying an extended warranty. In the end, Shawn required us to sign an “as-is” purchase agreement. This dealership sold a new vehicle (odometer 6 miles) “as-is.” We did not get a good answer why a brand-new vehicle was being sold as-is. The the form reads, “The only warranties applying to this vehicle are those offered by the manufacturer.” Could it be that the “lifetime engine warranty” by Jim Norton Toyota is only available to purchasers of an extended warranty?? Bottom line: Work with Robert Blocker - he is a knowledgeable and professional car salesman. Your experience with Mr. Blocker will be OUTSTANDING. But, do not expect the same professionalism from the finance dept. Prepare yourself for a hard sell approach and illogically being asked to buy a new vehicle “as is.” More
