*1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible Custom*® Built between 1955 and 1957, the âTri-Fiveâ Chevrolets are some of the most beloved classic cars of all time. Even nearly 70 years after their production, they draw looks and positive attention from nearly anybody who sees them. With a stunning design and a great selection of V8 engines, the Tri-Five Chevrolets cars that could be purchased new at an affordable price, but offered Cadillac-style looks and interior appointments. These cars are still sought after, and are frequently treated to the resto-mod treatment - leaving the classic shape untouched, but improving driving dynamics - just like with this example.® This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible Custom is finished in a stunning two-tone combination of Tropical Turquoise with an India Ivory rear accent, which is paired with a Gray leather interior. The condition of the car is immaculate, having recently been treated to a frame-off restoration by Patrickâs Classy Cars in Phoenix, AZ. The white convertible top looks flawless and is power-operated from inside the cabin. From the exterior, there is little that gives away all of the upgrades beneath the carâs surface, but a set of Budnick wheels wrapped in lower profile Diamond Back whitewall tires, frame a set of Corvette Grand Sport 4-wheel disc brakes that hint at the performance potential.® The interior has been carefully upgraded as well - not disturbing the classic exterior color matched dashboard that everyone loves in these cars, while making it more comfortable and usable. In place of the original bench seat are a pair of power-adjustable Cadillac bucket seats with a console between the two. They, along with the rear bench seat are all wrapped in dark gray high-quality leather, and the carpet has been replaced with Mercedes-Benz carpeting to match. The stereo looks original but now has AM/FM/Satellite radio capabilities, and a custom stereo has been installed around the cabin. An adjustable steering column and custom built original-style steering wheel (with power steering) have been fitted, and behind them, a Classic Instruments gauge pod that helps you keep track of the carâs vitals. For additional comfort, power windows and an ice cold Vintage Air A/C system have also been installed.® But what really separates this car from all the other 1955 Bel Airs is what you find beneath the surface. A Paul Newman frame is paired with Corvette Grand Sport suspension at all four corners, making this car handle like a modern sports sedan. As soon as you step on the gas, youâre grateful for the chassis work, as the 6.0-liter Magnuson supercharged LS2 V8 puts down 550 horsepower, you still feel completely in control of the vehicle. This sends power via a 4L60E electronically controlled 4-speed automatic to the rear wheels.® There is no doubt that the looks of the 1955 Bel Air are stunning, but if you get behind the wheel of a stock example, the fact is it just doesnât drive all that well.
