If you're considering buying the 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz SEL AWD, here are why it makes a very compelling choice, along with some caveats you should keep in mind given your interest in many Hyundai models, this one ticks many boxes. Why buy it Strong combination of utility + comfort Although its a compact pickup (sport-adventure vehicle) rather than a full-size truck, the Santa Cruz offers a 4-door crew cab with five seats and a usable cargo bed. The bed also features clever storage: a lockable under-bed trunk area, drain plugs, etc., making it versatile for outdoor gear, etc. With the SEL trim, you get upgraded comfort/features (heated front seats, roof side rails, H-Tex leatherette seats) over the base trim. AWD capability The SEL trim offers an AWD version (so you're getting the SEL features plus the added traction of all-wheel drive). For someone in Wisconsin (winter conditions, potentially snow/ice), AWD is a meaningful bonus. Efficient powertrain with reasonable fuel economy (for the class) The 2.5-L naturally aspirated engine produces 191 hp and 181 lb-ft in the SEL/SE trims. EPA estimates for the AWD (nonturbo) version: ~21 mpg city / 29 mpg highway / ~24 mpg combined.
