I took my (new) jeep in because my brakes squealed every time I backed out of my garage. They told me "yes nine out of ten new cars do that" and did nothing about it. Also as a courtesy they wash your car time I backed out of my garage. They told me "yes nine out of ten new cars do that" and did nothing about it. Also as a courtesy they wash your car for you, it looked worse than when I dropped it off and there was mud on my floor mat. I guess my neighbors will just have to hear my NEW car squeal every day. I won't buy another vehicle from a dealership that does not stand behind their product. LMM More

The transmission failed on our 2010 Jeep Patriot while still under warranty. We purchased it from a dealership owned by the same company as this one, so came here expecting excellent service. When it first started making noise, they recommended a transmission flush, which we had our mechanic do. This dealership then blamed our mechanic for causing the failure by using the wrong fluid (which wasn't true, and the failure had happened prior to the flush). There was no apology for anything – not for our relatively new Jeep having a failed transmission, not for falsely suggesting we’d voided our warranty and possibly costing us thousands of dollars, not for not knowing that CVT fluid comes in red (a shocking lack of awareness for a Jeep service department), and not for making us jump through hoops to convince him we weren’t lying to him. My Patriot sat at Champion for 13 days. No apology was offered for the mechanical failure of the vehicle, for the misdiagnosis of a fluid type error (which would have cost me thousands of dollars had I not questioned it), for suggesting that the brand name of fluid would void our warranty, or that the actual time from warranty approval to finishing the job was much longer than we had been told. This is not to mention the rude, uncooperative, and disrespectful treatment we received from the Service Manager. Only a service writer apologized for the delay in getting a response from Chrysler. How does an individual with no customer service skill, or knowledge of basic automotive fluids, obtain the title of dealership Service Manager? Why did no one ever say, “We’re sorry the vehicle didn’t live up to your expectations. We’ll do everything we can to make it right”? Why were we accused of lying, and the burden of proof laid on us at every step? We did nothing wrong; the transmission had simply failed, and the message to us through this entire process was that Champion Group, and Chrysler, would do anything possible to avoid having to cover the failure under warranty. This service department is the most professional, impressively run shop I have ever been in. The service advisor kept me informed through the entire process. It provided information on maintenence that had been performed as well as what would be needed in the future. This kind of information helps someone on a budget, (like me), prepare for upcoming expenses my vehicle will require, instead of being blind-sided by them. Champion's prices were very reasonable. You can't beat a $20 oil change! They even washed my car at their on-site carwash. I would recommend this service department to anyone, no matter what make of vehicle they own. I noticed a "slipping" feeling on my '03 Jeep Wrangler between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm on very hot days. The check engine light never came on and the problem occurred sporadically, but I was concerned enough between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm on very hot days. The check engine light never came on and the problem occurred sporadically, but I was concerned enough that it could be the transmission that I scheduled a diagnostic check at Champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Mike Robertson, a Champion service advisor, handled the intake for my vehicle. He asked if I knew the transmission's maintenance history. I only knew of a recent transmission flush but nothing else. After the check, Robertson said the transmission clutch pads had worn to dust and the resulting stress on the clutch plates and valve body necessitated a rebuild costing more than $2,900. He then suggested new brakes and a tune-up for a total exceeding $3,400. I immediately drove to Edward's Transmissions for a 2nd opinion. They didn't find problems with my transmission or anything in the car's computer error codes indicating an issue. In fact, there were no error codes at all. That evening, I went to Northside Automotive in Alexandria, IN for a 3rd opinion. Like Edwards, Northside found no problems with my transmission or its clutch pads, clutch plates or valve body. However, they did find that the radiator was severely corroded and losing coolant. This, not the transmission, caused the sporadic "slipping" feeling. Northside replaced my radiator for $384 and my car is running like new. I strongly believe that Mike Robertson and Champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge attempted to defraud me out of more than $2,900 by scaring me into an unnecessary transmission rebuild for reasons that didn’t exist. They added insult to injury by suggesting an additional $500 in other needless services. Robertson knew that I had little knowledge of the transmission's maintenance history and tried to take advantage of it. Further, Champion's failure to notice the severe corrosion of the radiator during a $100 diagnostic check leads me to believe my car wasn’t checked at all. I've filed complaints with the Central Indiana Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs with Indiana Attorney General. More

Tried to talk me into buying a new engine when my 300M overheated on the road; I went to their dealership for help; instead I was pressured to pay $4,000 for a new engine. I refused, so waited for the diagnosis, which turned out to match the original opinion -- that my car's engine was beyond repair. My home dealership, which had just replaced the timing belt and water pump along with standard maintenance, disagreed with the diagnosis and flatbedded my car 100 miles in order to make their own diagnosis. They also offered to pay for a rental car in the meantime, but I had already made other arrangements. My car is now running extremely well. Champion has been in touch with me regarding my complaint. Dealer principal has tried to make things right; still, Champion's service manager believes his diagnosis of my car is correct -- that my car will have major engine problems appear very soon; the fact that the car has over 100,000 miles on it could have something to do with eminent problems, however. In the meantime, I've put another 1500 miles on the vehicle without incident, and was charged nothing by my home dealership for the additional work done to correct the overheating problem. More
