I brought my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara in for an electrical diagnosis. The service department attempted to charge me $233 for a “diagnostic” even though no scan data, voltage readings, or CAN-bus an electrical diagnosis. The service department attempted to charge me $233 for a “diagnostic” even though no scan data, voltage readings, or CAN-bus test results were ever performed or documented. Instead, the technician dismantled my aftermarket radio wiring without authorization, called it a “hornet’s nest,” and returned my vehicle with a nonfunctional backup camera that worked perfectly before service. When I requested proof of testing, both the service advisor and GM admitted there were no diagnostic records or results. The GM later said he “couldn’t find them” but offered to “fix it himself,” which I declined — I’m not comfortable letting the same people who caused damage touch my vehicle again. Corporate handed the issue back to the same GM, who never followed up. I refused to pay for unperformed diagnostics because “diagnosis” means documented results — not unauthorized disassembly. I’m now filing a formal complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation for improper procedure, lack of documentation, and unauthorized work. If you value integrity, accountability, and professional documentation, avoid this service department. They’ll take things apart they weren’t authorized to touch and then try to bill you for work they can’t prove they did. More
